RESEARCH DESIGN The design of the study is Qualitative Phenomenological about the experiences of parents using Corporal Punishment in disciplining their children. Qualitative research was selected because it discovers multiple realities of parent’s perception. Qualitative phenomenology begins with an experience or condition and, through the narration of participants, of either a shared single incident or shared condition, investigates the effects and perceptions of that experience. Simply, the phenomenological method interprets an experience or fact, by listening to the different stories of the participants. The method examines the phenomena through the subjective eyes of the participants. Phenomenology (is) focused on the subjectivity of reality continually pointing out the need to understand how humans view themselves and the world around them (Willis, 2007, p. 53).
First Informant- The parent who meets the inclusion criteria. Will refer the next informant.
Second Informant- Also meets the inclusion criteria.Referred by the first informant. Not necessarily living on same barangay but currently lives in Baguio City.
Third Informant- Can be referred by the second or first informant. Also meets inclusion criteria. Not necessarily living on same barangay but currently lives in Baguio City. Fouth Informant- Can be referred by the third, second or first informant. Also meets inclusion criteria. Not necessarily living on same barangay but currently lives in Baguio City.
B. SETTING The study will be conducted at Baguio City, because it is a melting pot where people of different cultures meet and live. Besides it is a convenient and practical since it will be easier on the Researcher’s part to communicate, with informants, extract inf ormation, validate and reassess gathered data when meeting the saturation point. The selection of informants will start at Trancoville Baguio City because it is a barangay wherein people from different cultures live due to cheap housing and easy access to business centers. These characteristics will enable variety of results in the study.

And it will be the informant’s choice if he/she prefers the video tape. And in order to gather this needed information the researcher will use unstructured question and snow ball principle for data gathering until saturation point is met. Therapeutic communication will also be applied. tape recorder or no use of gadgets. The consideration of these ethical issues was necessary for the purpose of ensuring the privacy as well as the safety of the informants. allowing for flexibility of interview. DATA GATHERING MANAGEMENT The research will be done by third year nursing students of SLU with their research advisor Bernardino Vinoya in Baguio City specifically in Trancoville Baguio City where people of different races met and live where it would be convenient for the researchers. F. And from the answers. the researcher will relay relayed all important details of the study like aim and purpose. will be asked. the researchers will thank the informant for sharing and cooperating to the said interview and leave. who will be the audience of the study. impromptu questions will be asked to gather perceptions and experiences of parents who apply corporal punishment. the informants will be able to understand the importance of their role in the completion of the study. “How do you discipline your child”.Upon finding the informant’s residence. what school do they come from and what is their purpose. The Researchers will conduct an interview. the Researchers will greet the informant and will formally introduce as student researchers from Saint Louis University who will be conducting a study about the Experiences of Parents in the use of Corporal Punishment in disciplining their children.other problem involving the data. The Researchers should always respect the decision of the informant in refusing or agreeing with the said interview. then the Researchers will thank and apologize for the inconvenience. but if the informant agrees with the interview then that’s the time that the Researchers will explain the process of the interview.
