**DOE Sampling Statistics – Calculation of Rating/Represented Value
**

Showerheads and Faucets

This document provides an example of the calculations used to determine the represented value of water consumption for a basic model using the applicable sampling statistics in the Code of Federal Regulations. This example is provided for demonstration purposes only, and it is the responsibility of the manufacturer of a covered product to ensure that basic models are certified in accordance with all applicable regulatory requirements. This example is based upon a theoretical test of a basic model of showerhead, using the sampling statistics of Section 429.29 of 10 CFR 429, although the statistical sampling requirements for faucets in 429.28 are essentially the same even though the water consumption standards are different for these products. Result of initial randomly selected sample of two units (n=2) of a basic model, tested in accordance with 10 CFR 430, Subpart B, Appendix S: Unit 1 – 2.48 gpm Unit 2 – 2.41 gpm Follow Provisions of Section 429.29 (sampling plan for showerheads):

NOTE: for metering faucets. (per 10 CFR 430. Round to one decimal place 2. the manufacturer may conservatively rate it at 2. Appendix S) . the final represented value of water consumption is rounded to one decimal place.4 This value is compliant with DOE standards and may be used as the rated value of water consumption for this basic model. Subpart B. For all other faucets and all showerheads. Per 429.44. Alternatively.29(2). it is the sample mean of 2. the final represented value of water consumption is rounded to two decimal places.5. the represented value shall be no less than the higher of these two values. In this case.
