by Pastor Keith Felton CONGRATULATIONS TO JOHN WOODS!!! John graduated from Truett Theological Seminary on Saturday. We are proud of him and thankful God has led him to lead us in music and worship. I am thankful for the model of ministerial staff we have at First Baptist Church which allows its ministers to further their education while serving the church. You have been a big part of John’s ministerial training and education. I’m grateful for your foresight and wisdom to have agreed in moving forward with the part-time seminarian model of ministerial staff four years ago. We could not have imagined a better initial participant in this staff model than John. He continues to set a high mark of excellence in our worship experiences and leads with a compassionate heart. Thanks, John and congratulations! All of our membership should have received by now a letter from me explaining the FBC REVITALIZATION PLEDGE CAMPAIGN and pledge card. I hope you will pray earnestly about your participation in this campaign as we seek to ‘pay back’ a loan from our Capital Fund (CD). Instead of borrowing money from an outside source, the Stewardship Committee recommended to the church we use our own resources for the up front costs of Phase One of the Revitalization Plan. Then, over a period of 12 months, we would work on a pledge campaign to reimburse ourselves. I believe this is an innovative and fiscally responsible way of getting some much needed work done on our facilities. The pledge card you received will need to be completed and turned into the church office on or before June 7. There are options for how much one can contribute on a per-week or per-month basis – however, if you need to add another option, like a ‘one-time gift’ or something else, feel free to do so. Thank you, in advance, for all you will do to help revitalize FBC!!! I want to say THANK YOU to a couple of groups that work very hard each week for all of us at FBC. Our Volunteer Wednesday Night Meal Teams are about ready to take a break for the summer and we are very grateful for them making Wednesday Fellowship Meals wonderful. What a joy it is to be able to take a mid-week break from cooking or going out to eat and getting the chance to fellowship with our family of faith!! Also, our Volunteer Lawn Maintenance Crews are already hard at it each week making our church campus look beautiful. This is a huge task and we are privileged to have folks who are willing to do this – it is a very nice picture of the Body of Christ at work. THANKS! THANKS! THANKS!

You can bring to the church office or to Worship on Sunday or on Wednesday night.

Thank You I am so grateful for the numerous cards, beautiful reception, and generous gifts that many in the church have From given in celebration of my graduation from seminary and John graduate school. After eight years of school, I am relieved to be finished. God has been faithful every moment of the process, and I give thanks for a church that has supported Lindsay and I throughout the journey.

4th Annual Music Ministry Banquet This past Tuesday the entire music ministry had a wonderful dinner at Little Bear Creek Lodge, celebrating the past year of ministry through music. People from all parts of the music ministry were there—staff, children’s choir leaders, handbell ringers, choir members, technology team—and the list goes on. Each year the music ministry honors one of its own that has gone above and beyond in faithful service. This year’s recipient of the Psalm 92 Award for Musical Excellence is Brenda Edins. As you know, Brenda is an active member of the Sanctuary Choir and directs the Chandler Craig Handbell Choir, on top of the work she does with children and youth each week. Thank you, Brenda, for your example to all of us. Awesome Children’s Choir Concert On Wednesday, May 20, the children’s choirs of our church presented a concert of music to their family and friends of our church and community. These children have been working hard all year, learning songs of faith and becoming well-rounded worshippers of Christ. The Children’s Music and Missions leaders have invested so much in the children of our church. Be sure and thank them when you see them. Children’s Party This Wednesday This Wednesday is the last meeting of Children’s Music and Missions until the beginning of school. After dinner, we’ll have a big party to celebrate a great season of learning about music and missions together with our friends. Get ready for some fun!
