There is great value in a children’s choir program. Clearly some people are more naturally gifted

There is great value in a children’s choir program. Clearly some people are more naturally gifted in music than others. I am not one of those. As a child I took piano lessons for about three months. I was so bad the teacher quit! I sang a solo once at elementary school. One comment went something like this “It wasn’t as bad as it sounded!” In spite of my failed attempts, I have a deep love for music. I marvel at musicians and envy those who can sing. As a child I was placed in children choir programs at church. I don’t remember, but there were probably times I didn’t want to go, or my mother was too weary to take me. But nevertheless, I was there and I am forever grateful. These choirs taught me the importance of praising God through song. I’ve learned more scripture and doctrine through song than I can count. My life has been spiritually shaped by music. That is why a children’s choir program is so valuable. When children are older they may not be in choir, but they will always be able to praise God in their heart. Why? Because you taught them early to do so. Choir enrollment starts this Sunday. Give them a blessing that will guide them all their life.

I’m still a little dazed over this past weekend. The significance of being debt free is still sinking in. Last weekend was exciting, inspiring and challenging. I felt greater pride in this church, deeper gratitude to those in Heaven, and more confidence in those who will lead tomorrow. It is easy to look back and see clearly God’s plan unfolded. I marvel again at His wisdom and guidance. Though we are debt free we are always debtors. The same gospel that has been shared with us must be shared with others. That is always our responsibility and privilege.

I’ll See You Sunday,
