This is in continuation of Punjab Government Department of Planning Notification No. 1/37-PSPB-(PC)-2012/4196 dated 31-10-2012 vide which AADHAAR Number issued by UIDAI was allowed to be treated as Proof of ldentity(PO1). 2. Reserve Bank of India vide their latest instructions No. RBI/2012-13/322

DBOD.AML.BC.No.65/14.01.001/2012-13 dated 10/12/2012 has observed as follows:-

"Acceptance of Aadhaar letter for KYC purposes- Unique identification

Authority of India(UIDAI) has advised Reserve Bank that banks are accepting Aadhaar letter issued by it as a proof of identity but not of address for opening accounts. As indicated at para 2(i) above, If the address provided by the account holder is the same as that on Aadhaar letter, it may be accepted as a proof of both identity and address". 3. The State Government has, therefore, taken a decision to officially

recognize Aadhaar being given to the residents as valid document for establishing Proof of Address (POA) for various services being offered by State Government to the residents of Punjab. 4. Accordingly, all the Departments are hereby, requested to adopt Aadhaar

as valid document for Proof of Address and issue suitable instructions in this regard to their subordinate offices.
