VALLEY SOCIAL CLUB NEWSLETTER FOR AUGUST 2013

FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE CLUB
Greetings all social club members. I hope everyone is enjoying their summers. A month from now we will all be worried about the coming snows. There were times I thought that I was going to melt from the heat. Luckily it’s been busy at the club. We have been going on trips, picnics and the upcoming club trip and state wide picnic which is always highly popular too. We even snuck in a few trips to Quassy. All and all a good summer. I need to remind folks that club meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month during lunch. It’s these meetings were we decide on all these great activities so take part and have some fun. Julianne M.

FROM THE VICE PRESIDENT
Hi fellow club members. It is now August. More than half the year is gone and now half the summer is gone too. Oh well I can’t complain because I’m having a great summer. I hope all your summers were great too. We did a few really cool things. In July we went to “Chicks’ with the Shoreline club, we went blueberry picking just to name a few. Soon we will be going to the state wide picnic and the club trip. By the time you read this I’ll be Visiting my parents in Florida. I’m looking forward to my vacation because I know that I’ll have a great time. So I hope every one has a good August and spend time with the other club members. See you all soon. Sylvia H

FROM THE SECRETARY

NEXT, MOUNT EVEREST

In July, Jacques Maignan, Social Club staff decided to imitate Edmund Hilary and climb Connecticut's version of Mount Everest, Sleeping Giant in Hamden. Jacques took five consumer explorers and scaled the mountain. Afterwards, they had a BYOB picnic lunch and returned to the base camp (the club). Luckily they got the first cool day in weeks so it was an enjoyable day. In the words of one consumer “next trip ,Mount Everest”!

ROBERT’S RENDERINGS
A satisfied flower is one whose petals are about to fall. The most beautiful rose is one hardly more than a bud wherein the pangs and ecstasies of desire are working for larger and finer growth. Author Carl Sandburn Submitted by Robert S.

THE MASTERS TABLE
The volunteers who put on the Masters Table dinner held at Christ Church in Ansonia will be taking a well deserved break in the month August. No dinner will be held in August. But the dinners will resume as normal in September. The next Masters Table dinner will be Sept. 29. from 4pm to 5:30pm. Staff reminds folks that the doors to the church will NOT open till 4pm. When you get the chance thank the kind folks who put on the dinners. They really work very hard to help out the local community.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO The club would like to wish the following club members having a birthday in August a happy birthday. John G. Steve K. Donna K.
