Dear Pipeline Fighter, There are many important events packed into the next two months, both in the ongoing fight to stop Keystone XL, and in our efforts to promote clean, renewable energy in Nebraska. In our state, YOU are a shareholder in your power company, so we're urging you to speak out to put the "public" back in public power. Mark your calendars and click to RSVP so we know you're coming. Your grassroots support is crucial at all of these events.

Monday, Aug. 5 and Tuesday, Aug. 6: NPPD Public Hearings
If you're a Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) customer, YOU own your power provider and your voice determines whether NPPD dumps coal and moves toward clean, renewable energy. Our power structure is unique in Nebraska. Put the "public" back in public power: Click the links for details on

the hearings in Stanton (today at noon), Norfolk (6pm today), Neligh and Pierce, Nebraska. Thursday, Aug. 8 and Friday, Aug. 9: NPPD Board Meetings
NPPD has done the right thing for the past several months by not signing a contract with TransCanada to pay for the pumping stations and other energy needs of TransCanada for Keystone XL. However, it looks like NPPD is now ready to sign a contract with TransCanada when they do not even have a permit yet to build the pipeline. The Aug. 8 meeting will also address a proposal to enhance wind energy in Nebraska. Come give public comment at the NPPD meetings in Columbus on Thursday at 1pm or Friday at 9am.

Saturday, Aug. 10: Power Lincoln SOLAR TOUR
Come out for a fun day touring some of Lincoln's solar panel installations, and learn more about solar and what the Power Lincoln Locally coalition that Bold Nebraska is a part of is doing right now to move the city away from coal and towards clean, renewable energy. RSVP and share the details on Facebook.

Tuesday, Aug. 13: Lee Terry's Office: Climate Change "Storytime"
In conjunction with Organizing For America's (OFA) campaign calling out climate change deniers like Rep. Lee "Tarsands" Terry, we're teaming with the Grandmothers Apple Pie Brigade to deliver a climate denier "award" to Keystone XL's Head Cheerleader in Congress. The grandmothers will also lead a rocking chair "story time," to help educate Terry about climate change.

Thursday, Aug. 15: OPPD Board Meeting
The North Omaha Coal plant is one of the dirtiest in the country. It is in a neighborhood. And we do not have to deal with this. As residents of Omaha, we OWN OPPD. We decide where our energy comes from. Come stand with citizens speaking out for renewable energy. Our intent is to let you know when

these power board meetings happen so you have input, and can put the public back in public power.

Friday, Aug. 16: Lincoln Energy System (LES) Board Meeting
If you're a Lincoln resident, you own your power provider. Come make your voice for renwable energy heard at the meeting. ACTION: Sign the petition demanding LES support clean energy.

Saturday, Aug. 17: Groundbreaking Day for Build Our Energy Barn Project
Volunteer or chip in to help us build a wind and solar-powered barn on land directly inside the Keystone XL pipeline route in York, Nebraska. We'll prepare the land to pour the barn's foundation, and launch our #NoKXL Billboards Art Project. Artists and hospitality volunteers needed! Click here for details and to RSVP.

Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 14-15: Build Our Energy Weekend #1
Construction begins on the wind and solar-powered barn, continued work on #NoKXL Billboards Art Project, for landowners on the pipeline route. Builders, artists and hospitality volunteers are needed to help raise the barn. Click here for details and to RSVP.

Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 21-22: Build Our Energy Weekend #2
Construction continues on the wind and solar-powered barn, as well as #NoKXL Billboards Art Project for landowners on the pipeline route. Builders, artists and hospitality volunteers needed! Click here for details and to RSVP.

Friday, Sept. 27: Landowners vs. KXL Court Date
Join us at the courthouse in Lincoln for oral arguments in Thompson v. Heineman, the lawsuit filed by three landowners challenging the unconstitutional state law that fast-tracked approval of the Keystone XL route in Nebraska. The Washington Post just did a fantastic write-up on the lawsuit. Click here to RSVP and share the details on Facebook. We can't wait to see you at some of these events, help us spread the word! Thanks for all you do. Jane Kleeb and the Bold Nebraska team P.S. Click here to make a donation now to support Bold Nebraska's work.
