Fargo-Moorhead Social & Word of Mouth Network
August 8, 2013
This edition of the Beat marks our 5th anniversary. That means five years of helping you folks find out what is going on in our metro area. Our first edition was 1 ½ pages and went out to a list of about 40 people, compiled from friends. The list is now over 720. We started out with two writers, increasing to four shortly after. We are currently at three writers and have been hoping to get that to four or five, to help ensure we continue on with publishing the Beat. Throughout the years, as writers, we’ve generally stayed somewhat anonymous, attempting to inject personality into the Beat. Treating it like our own alter egos. A bit like being Oz behind a curtain, but without claims of power and a cool green suit (we wish!). So since we never know how much longer the Beat will continue (we never imagined five years), we’ll take a moment to step out from behind the curtain and introduce ourselves to those of you who may not know us. The two founding writers are still contributing – John Machacek and Camille Weber. The other current writer is Erica Johnsrud. Our two past writers are Aaron Hill and Kris Kerzman. So if you run into any of us, feel free to share any comments about the Beat – as long as they are only very flattering and make us blush, or buy us a drink, or make us a casserole, or give a firm handshake, or maybe a pat on the backside (Aaron only please). We’ve enjoyed promoting all the things happening in this great city of ours. Local activities and the dynamic-ness of our community seems to be growing, so we only seeing your opportunities getting better. Stay classy!
