Track your time in minutes or use a pedometer to count how many steps you walk. Walking is one of the easiest ways to be active: it’s free and all you need is water, comfortable clothes and shoes. Being active can lower stress, improve health, and increase energy. Having an active lifestyle means: Staying active throughout the day by using the stairs, gardening, or doing chores, and Doing heart healthy exercise for 30-60 minutes most days that gets your heart rate up, for example, walking at a pace that makes you breathe hard but not gasp for air.
