Nowadays, a lot of people decide to travel abroad and visit many different countries and remote places. What would have been an inconceivable as well as arduous endeavor a hundred years over the last decades has come to be considered the norm. All anyone has to do is hop on his mean of preference and find himself across the globe. travel . A heated debate that concerns travelling has to do with whether visitors should adjust to the lifestyle and culture of the host country or not. First and foremost, it is of high importance that visitors are acquainted/familiar with the culture, customs and behavior patterns of the country they ‘re visiting. In different countries ,as for example in muslim ones, there are strict dress or behaviour codes that have to do with the people’s religion, even if tourists do not fully understand or accept that particular way of living for themselves, they ought to respect it. It is of essense to mention at this point that in some countries some reactions and ways of public interaction are acceptable when in others the exact same ones may be perceived as rude , disrespectful or even offensive . For example in China people spit in public however, such actions will probably/definitely get you in hot water/ in trouble in most European countries. On the other hand, it is of utmost significance for the host country to welcome cultural differences at least up to a point. Let’s not forget that most if not all of our civilizations,of progress,of change have been based on exchangeof ideas, points of view, cultural elements. The locals could show their respect towards visitors by showing understanding,by being lenient that is, at a propable misstep by taking the time to explain to tourists what it was that they did wrong. Also speaking a foreign language that would allow them to communicate better and showing some respect and appreciation back can also work wonders. As result more tourists would choose to visit this specific country which appears friendlier and more approachable. To sum up, all things considered, I do believe that every country should maintain its culture and traditions in order to secure its national identity. In that respect visitors should show the appropriate respect to the aforementioned culture.
