With the need {or Energy Conservation, great strides in the development of higher efficlency lamp sources have been, and are still being made. These sources. which produce higher lumen output per watt of energy used and give ionger lamp life, all require ballasts, resulting ln higher initial cost of equipment, but save e ectrical consurnption over their extended life. At times these ballasts ca11 be incorporated into the fixture but oJten because of insufficient room it becomes necessaryto mountthe ballasts remotely in crawl space obove the ceiling, if available. Reflectors must aJso be incorporated to obtain the most efficient distributjon patterns. The lamps are also more costly, but becaose of their longer life and reduced maintenance cost for replacement, this ditferential is somewhat reduced. lncandescent lamps shown in this catalog have an average lamp life of 2000 hours, whereas the new more efficient sources have lamp lives of from 7000 to as hlgh as 24000 ho!rs. Si.nce church lighting is not used as extensively as sonte other types of general lighting, we estimate that the 2000 hour life of incandescent lamps, based upo| an average equipment Lrse of about l0 hours per week, would project an average larnp life of approximately 3 to 4 years before lamp replacement becomes necessary, With the same average weekly use with the more effcient lamp sources, this would result in 12 years of nlore of use before lamp replacement becomes necessary, A decision then becomes necessary to determine whether the longer lamp life, the lower main tenance costs to replace lamps, and Iower energy costs outweigh the higher initial eqLlipment cost and hrgher lamp costs for their limited use. ln some cases, replacement of the incandes cent lamping with these more efficient lamp sources can result in 50 to 60% reducton in wattage with a 10 to 55% increase in lumen output, and a 3 to 10 times ionger lamp life. Color quality is also an important consideration. Some energy saving lamps do not have the best color quality for church lightrng, and though development in new lamp sources is continuing, at present it is necessary to combine various lamp sources presently avatlable to obtain the best final results at minimum cost All units in this catalog are available with energy efficient lamp sources, but an increase in equipment cost, and cost of lamps in the area of about 15 to 2070 should be anticipated. Be. cause of the continuing developments we can engineer and propose the appearance design of your choice, equipped with the most recent lamp sources, and based upon your specific needs, we can submit a lamping suggestion and quotation upon your special request enclosing a set
