Accuracy classes acc. to IEEE/ANSI C57.13 and CAN3-C13
Accuracy classes: 0.3 - 0.6 - 1.2

Measurement ranges: 1 - 1.33 - 1.5 - 2 - 3 - 4 x In 1.0 x In 1.5 x In ... - without special indication - factor 1.5 at indication of rated current

the specification of an accuracy limiting factor is unusual Indication of power ratings: B 0.1 - B 0.2 - B 0.5 - B 0.9 - B 1.8 The rated power is not indicated directly. Instead of that the impedance of the rated burden is mentioned on the name plate. The rated burden is always related to a secondary current of 5 Amps. B 0.5 rated burden = 0.5 Ohm rated power = 25 x 0.5 = 12.5 VA

The required accuracy has to be maintained only with rated burden.

limits of errors under overcurrent conditions acc. to IEC 600 44-1

range of rated current

range of overcurrent

Under overcurrent conditions the downstream measurement devices should be protected against impermissible thermal overloadings With rated burden (cos = 0.8) and rated factor of security (FS) the composite error has to result to 10% at least to the CT is under saturated condition

Measurement CT Under overcurrent conditions the downstream measurement devices should be protected against impermissible thermal overloadings With rated burden (cos = 0.8) and rated factor of security (FS) the composite error has to result to 10% at least to the CT is under saturated condition. Protection CT Under overcurrent conditions the CT should work errorless as possible ensuring a proper protection function. With rated burden (cos = 0.8) and rated overcurrent the composite error limits must be maintained. The CT must not be under saturated conditions.

Dimensioning

Measuring CTs should be dimensioned that the connected burden including the
connecting cables is not exceeding the rated CT-burden.

Low burdened CTs jeopardize the connected measurement devices because of a

non occurring saturation.
