QUESTION 1 1. An experiment is carried out to investigate the effect of sucrose concentration on the activity of yeast. Yeast reacts with sucrose solution to produce alcohol and carbon dioxide gas. The apparatus as shown in Figure 1 is set up. 1cm3 of 1% yeast suspension is transferred using a pipette into a boiling tube P containing 5 cm3 of 1% sucrose solution. The initial level of the coloured liquid in the U tube is set at 0.0 mm. After 10 minutes, the level of the coloured liquid is measured. Satu eksperimen dilakukan untuk mengkaji kesan kepekatan larutan sucrosa ke atas aktiviti yis. Yis bertindakbalas dengan larutan sukrosa menghasilkan alkohol dan gas karbon dioksida. Radas telah disediakan seperti di rajah 1. 1 cm3 ampaian yis 1% telah di masukkan ke dalam tabung didih mengandungi 5 cm3 1% larutan sukrosa dengan menggunakan pipet.Paras awal cecair berwarna dalam tiub U telah di set pada 0.0 mm.Selepas 10 \ minit paras cecair berwarna diukur .

Diagram 1/ Rajah 1 The experiment is repeated using boiling tubes Q, R and S, with the same volume of sucrose solution but different concentration of 2%, 3% and 4% respectively. The changes of the coloured liquid levels in the U-tube are shown in Table 1. Eksperimen diulangi menggunakan tabung didih Q,R dan S dengan isipadu larutan sukrosa yang sama tetapi berbeza kepekatan 2%, 3% dan 4% masing-masing. Perubahan paras cecair berwarna dalam tiub U ditunjukkan dalam jadual 1.

QUESTION 2 Variations enable organisms to survive in a changing environment. Camouflage is an example of variation that enables an animal to match its colour or shape to its surrounding as to ensure survival. Variasi membolehkan organisma hidup dalam persekitaran yang berubah-ubah. Penyamaran adalah contoh variasi yang membolehkan haiwan mengubah warna atau bentuk badan agar serupa dengan persekitaran untuk menjamin kemandirian spesies. Based on the above information, design a laboratory experiment to study how colour camouflage helps in the survival of a spesies. Berdasarkan maklumat di atas, rancang satu eksperimen untuk mengkaji bagaimana penyamaran warna dapat menjamin kemandirian spesies.
