IN THE
New Special Events Superintendent
The Town of Ocean City is pleased to welcome Frank Miller to the position of Special Events Superintendent for the Town of Ocean City. The position recently became vacant when 14–year Town of Ocean City employee, John “Sully” Sullivan, retired. As Special Events Superintendent, Frank will manage countless events in the resort town, including Sundaes in the Park, Concerts on the Beach, Arts Alive, Springfest, Sunfest and Winterfest. While his formal responsibilities include planning, coordinating and executing the Town of Ocean City’s various special events, he is also responsible for managing hundreds of private events within Ocean City. Frank has spent the last 18 years of his professional career in event production and management, including the annual OC Air Show. A native of Elizabethtown, PA, and a graduate of Elizabethtown College, Frank brings with him to the Eastern Shore his wife of 19 years, Jennifer and two children, Andrew and Matthew. When Frank is not working with the Ocean City Special Events Division team or attending his sons’ lacrosse games, he enjoys visiting local car shows and camping with his family.

Skate Park to Get New Shade Structure
The Ocean Bowl Skate Park will be the beneficiary of a new shade structure courtesy of a $30,000 grant from the Maryland Community Parks and Playgrounds program. The grant will be used to purchase and install a triangular shaped shade structure in the northeast corner of the skate park. The structure is designed to provide the skate park visitors with a refuge area from the sun, heat and severe weather conditions. The shaded area will also serve as a watering station and a covered platform for judges to use during competitions. The work is tentatively scheduled for the winter of 2014.

Little Free Library added to Northside Park
Thanks to the generosity of local property owners, John and Peggy Reinholt, a Little Free Library has been installed in the park near the Sammy Wilkerson Memorial Gardens. The Little Free Library will hold books for both children and adults, for reading and exchange. In addition to donating the library, Mr. and Mrs. Reinholt will act as stewards to it and will maintain the supply of books. The Little Free Library movement is intended to promote literacy and the love of reading as well as build a sense of community. The ability to read and borrow books in Northside Park is a nice addition to the amenities Ocean City is able to offer its residents and visitors.

The popular Home Run Café is open from May through October!
We offer upscale food, snacks and beverages. We specialize in turkey clubs, BLTs, pulled pork sandwiches, cheesesteaks, specialty coffee drinks, fresh squeezed lemonade, shaved ice, smoothies, and amazing breakfast favorites. We have the standards too: hamburgers, all beef hot dogs, chili, pizza, chicken fingers, hot soft pretzels and so much more for hungry athletes and spectators. Our friendly staff makes all food to order, so it may take a little longer, but it’s definitely worth the wait!

For a smaller, but just as satisfying selection, the Soccer Field concession stand, located in the northwest section of the park near the fishing pier, services soccer, lacrosse and flag football events throughout the summer and fall months. Come find our open window on the field-side of the comfort building just off our winding park pathway. Planning to play in one of the many soccer and/or basketball tournaments held in the Northside Park community center? Our concessions are open to satisfy your hunger. Just follow the delightful aroma of freshly popped popcorn to the building’s kitchen area, where a full scale concession operation, still offering the best of the Home Run Café’s menu, can be enjoyed.
