My Movie Choice: Tribulation (2000) starring Gary Busey Howie Mandel and Margot Kidder It is a strange new world
after millions of people around the world suddenly vanish in thin air. The world plunges into chaos and a new leader rises promising to restore peace and prosperity to a panicked and confused world. The world seeking a savior out of their misery turn to Franco Macalusso, a charismatic leader who rises out of the ashes of chaos and would rule the world causes the entire world to receive his mark in their right hand or forehead and live, or reject it a die as a hater. Eileen who lives a life of faith in Jesus Christ and before the vanishing occurred had tried to warn her brothers Tom Canboro and Calvin, his wife Susan and her brother-in-law Jason about the future Tribulation and shared information about the Rapture to them. Met with doubt and teasing by her family Eileen stood firm in her faith. Jason who dabbled in the occult began having hellish nightmares of the demonic kind, soon found himself loosing his mind and leaping through a second floor window. Surviving the fall, Jason jumps into his car and races off at a high rate of speed to go get some help. Eventually he loses control and wrecks his car only to awake years later after being in a coma in nearly abandoned hospital where the snitch of evil lurks everywhere. Meanwhile, Tom who is a police detective searches of his brother-in-law after having not seen Jason in years, also continues to try to make cents of the new world era that he now is faced with. Returning to a place where years earlier his older sister Eileen designated a safety zone if they were to ever get separated, they could come to wait until they are found by the others in her family. Tom returns there to discover Jason had also been waiting to be found. Tom fills Jason in with everything that had happen since his disappearance, and Jason tells Tom the things that he had experienced before he disappeared and after he had found himself in a strange hospital where he barely escaped with his life. The two of them set off to uncover what the leader of the New World Order is really up to. They soon learn that nothing is what it appears. Franco Macalusso, the leader of the New World Order employs a sinister virtual reality technology that has the perceived power to alter reality and give those who wear the virtual reality goggles power to move objects with their mind and to have lost limbs suddenly reappear. But, this technology is also being used by Franco Macalusso to wage a war on Christians who have been trying to reach the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ through hacking into satellites so to broadcast old TBN Christian programming. On the run, Tom and Jason are pursued by ruthless agents of the Antichrist Franco Macalusso to bring him in to answer for his crimes against world peace. The demonic agents of the Antichrist appear everywhere that Tom is, and soon Tom cross paths with the underground Christian church who Franco wants silenced at any costs.
Tribulation is a drama science fiction thriller starring Gary Busey, Howie Mandel, Nick Mancuso, Margot Kidder, Sherry Miller, Joseph Ziegler, Jack Van Impe and T.D. Jakes, and released January 14, 2000 by Cloud Ten Pictures. This movie contains some violent scenes, no nudity and no foul language. Recommended for audiences 13 years old and up.
