Scrum Master

Job description/Responsibility: You will be responsible for facilitating meetings for the development team You will be preparing, planning and organizing discussions before executing moderate meetings and post-processes [i.e. documentation, reporting, etc.] Additionally you will hold retrospective meetings for the development team

Technological skillset: Understand basic fundamentals of iterative development Understand other processes and methodologies and can speak intelligently about them and lever other techniques to provide value to a team Understand basic fundamentals of software development processes and procedures Understand the value of commitments to delivery made by a development team Understand incremental delivery and the value of metrics Understand backlog tracking, burn down metrics, velocity, and task definition Familiarity with common Agile practices, service-oriented environments, and better development practices

Team Dynamics: Manages the Agile Scrum process and ensure that it is followed Shields the team from external interferences and promptly sort out factors that is slowing down progress Works closely with the product owner and QA to establish the acceptance criteria for all user stories Works closely with QA to ensure that all user stories are verified before the end of the sprint Communicates to product owners the decisions made by the team in a timely manner Motivates, inspires, and improves the lives and productivity of the development team Reviews and improves the practices (e.g. XP, new tools, etc.) Mediates the general conflict of goals between development team and product owner Helps the team make decisions helps the team improve their process Fosters teams self-organization Encourages communication within the team and with the stakeholders

Mentors and coaches team and individual employees on culture, values, philosophies, and manifesto Review and coaches employee performance on Scrum Agile values and philosophies during: o Quarterly Reviews o Annual Reviews o IDPs

Product: Ensures that the user stories in the backlog are prioritized and estimated, which includes scheduling and facilitating the planning poker sessions Assists in writing or splitting user stories Helps in writing or adapting product visions Supports order product backlog items Helps with the release planning Familiarizes with the teams work (i.e. the product)
