The Pictorialist

September 2013 Newsletter of the Photo Pictorialists of Milwaukee Established 1904 Affiliated with the Photographic Society of America Wisconsin Area Camera Clubs Organization And the Wisconsin Print Circuit Richard Yehl, President; Sandra Weber, Vice President Dixie Lowin, Treasurer; Bert Hartinger, Secretary-Editor Meetings are held the first Thursday of each month from September thru May at 7pm, in the Luther Manor Conference Room, 4545 N. 92nd St., Wauwatosa, Wisconsin Happy New (Program) Year! We start off the 2013/14 program year September 5. The summer break went fast but we will bring some of it back in memory by showing six photos of what we did during it. Do not send the photos digitally to Sandra Weber this time, but bring them to the meeting on a memory stick. We will pick out seven photos from those presented to represent our club in the PSA Chapter 21 Showcase competition, which will be judged in November. A reminder, dues payments ($20 for one person and $30 for a couple) should be paid before or at the first meeting. Then a new membership list will be made out. WACCO Exhibit The 2nd annual WACCO exhibit downtown in the Reuss Building was hung August 10, and will be up until September 21. Mary Dumont organized the exhibit and has prepared a catalog of the photographs. The exhibit is great. Be sure to go see it. Remembering Tony Oberbrunner A long time club member and avid photographer, Tony died after a lingering illness. Because of ill health he was unable to attend meetings most of the Jim Krivitz will exhibit photos taken in Cuba this past June. We will try to come up with an exhibitor list for following months at the first meeting in September. past year. Tony specialized in action pictures of rodeos, polo games, races, and other events, and he was very good at it. On the bright side we added several new members to the club the last year, some of whom joined after reading the Photopictorialist web site, edited by Sandra. By the way, remember to post photos both to the web site and to Flickr on a regular basis. That makes the web site more effective and helps us know what is going on with our members. Outings Open Doors Milwaukee will be September 21-22, and several landmark structures will be open for free tours. If you are a member of Historic Milwaukee, in depth guided tours of other buildings will take place. On September 16 Pauline Beck invited club members to visit her flower garden in Greenfield, and several of us did. She has a vast number of flowers, and knows the names of all of them. Photos we take of these activities will be displayed in City Hall during the last week of November and the first week of December. Kathy Braun pulled the strings to make it happen. Now it is up to the rest of us to take those Harley motorcycle pictures, in Milwaukee. Picnic
