: 11817/PA/2011-2012/38 To All Branches and Offices CIRCULAR Promotion Process- 2011-12 (For Mainstream Officers) Promotion from (i) MMG, Scale III to SMG, Scale IV (ii) MMG, Scale II to MMG, Scale III (iii) JMG, Scale I to MMG, Scale II Reference is invited to Head Office Instruction Circular No. 11670/PA/2011-2012/30 dated 08.12.2011, keeping in abeyance the captioned promotion processes owing to exigency. 2. In the meantime, revised guidelines for promotion of officers of Public Sector Banks have been received from the Government of India, Ministry of Finance vide their letters dated 05.12.2011 and 14.03.2012, in the light of which Promotion Policy for Officers of the Bank has been revised with the approval of the Board of Directors. The said revised Promotion Policy for Officers has been circularized vide Head Office Instruction Circular No. 11810/PA/2011-2012/37 dated 22.03.2012. 3. Some salient provisions of the revised Promotion Policy are as under: Date: 24.03.2012

Paragraph 5.3: For consideration in the promotion processes in all Scales, the officers will be required to submit applications in prescribed format as and when the processes commence and applications are invited by the Bank. Officers who fail to submit the filled in application within the scheduled date will not be considered for participation in the concerned promotion process. Paragraph 6.2: The cut off date for determining the eligibility as well as completed years of service will be as on 1st of April of the financial year (April to March) in which the vacancies arise. Paragraph 8: The zone of consideration for promotion should be strictly maintained at 1:3 ratio. In case fresh candidates equal to the number of anticipated vacancies are not available by keeping zone of consideration at 3 times the anticipated vacancies, the zone of consideration may be extended to 4 times the number of anticipated vacancies, with the prior approval of the Board. Paragraph 9: The channels of promotion and minimum experience requirement for promotion upto Scale IV are as follows:

7: On receipt of applications from the eligible officers for consideration in the promotion process. Paragraph 10. However.
