MEDIA II AND III BROADCAST

CLASS PROCEDURES AND GRADING POLICIES

You will receive one credit towards graduation each time you take this class. There are different levels of competency in each class; you will work in groups and as an individual to tailor the class to fit your needs. You will be designated as a II, or a III based on the number of years that you have been enrolled in Media.

Each nine weeks you will do the following: Video projects Equipment and skill proficiencies Event Shoots Ad analysis days Scene analysis days Journal entries Spot tests VIDEO PROJECTS
25-50 points each Topics will be assigned and chosen. Depending on the project, you may work in a group or alone-max. 3 students per group. When working in a self-chosen group on a self-chosen project, members will be individually graded-you will act as a story boarder, a camera person, and as an editor. You may not ever do any editing work at home and bring it in for assessment. If you violate the student handbook and it is recorded, you will be held accountable to school district discipline and you may be removed from the class.

PROFICIENCIES
10 points each (6 per 9 weeks) There will be different requirements for IIs, and IIIs.

10 points each (4 per 9 weeks) You are required to sign up for each event shoot. If the shoot is outside of the school day, you must check in with me, Mr. Bonner, or Mr. Boni on the day of the shoot-if you fail to check in you will lose 2 points. To cancel a shoot you must tell me 24-hours in advance-and I will take you off the list or call Chanel 7 at least 1-hour prior to the beginning of a show (724) 942-0136. If you do not follow the cancellation procedure or fail to show up you lose the 10 points. During in-class event shoots everyone will participate, if you are not on crew you are to observe another classmate working as a member of our team producing the show being recorded. You may do article reviews in place of an event shoot-if you need to use this option please see me.
