BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

As a child I was brought up with utmost care and comfort that could be provided in a middle income Indian household. My father belongs to a well read sub clan known as Naagars who are believed to be the decedents of Greek origin and my mother is Vaishnav. My father has completed his MD (PSM) preventive Social Medicine and is working with the Baroda Medical College for over 25 years. My mother has done her MD (Gynaecology) and is practising the same for women and child healthcare at a facility started by her. Since both my parents are well educated and working me and my sister grew up in an environment full of motivation and learning. As a child I was given many books to read and cater to my imaginative needs. Finance has always been enough to see to it that I and my sibling sister both got through with education in the most effective way. My parents have always laid stress on education and have guided me to achieve academic excellence. More than the finance it was the guidance and undiluted attention and motivation that I got from my parents that has seen me through the education pyramid of 10+2+3 As a school going child I was always interested more in extra cultural activities. Because I had English speaking parents, and a convent educated elder sister my grip on the language did not go unrecognised. I was often shortlisted for debates and elocution. Schooling developed the sense of competition in me and I was constantly chasing improvements if not perfection. As a school going child I also took part twice in a national level competition organised by BAL BHAVAN under the CREATIVE WRITING category. College was more of an eye opener as to how worlds outside Gujarat function. Was a part of the annual college fest Sympulse at Symbiosis Viman Nagar campus. The only exam that I have failed is in a Sanskrit Paper in my 10th std school level exam ( Not the boards ). It disheartened me at the start but as time passed I realised one cannot succeed if one hasnt tasted failure. As I did my gradution in the field of business, I had to undergo a process of studying HRM as an active subject in my college. More than other subjects I took much interest in this fine skill of managing humans as a resource to any organisation. Human Resource Management deals with managing the most crucial resource or factor affecting production of any business house. More over human tendency to grow and develop has always interested me and I too believe that if you mind and manage your men, your men will mind and manage everything else for you. The success of any business house depends on the successful tapping of its human skill resource. As a school going child I was bent towards extra curricular activities as it interested me very much. I prepared a PowerPoint presentation on Poverty In India at the end of which I asked all my classmates to put all the spare change they had in their pockets in a jar I had brought. I collected around 72 Rs and gave them off to an old lady at a traffic signal. Also I attended a brief seminar for TEACH FOR INDIA and also went to a school for 3 days to teach underprivileged kids but as the place was very far and we had to arrange for transport it did not turn out to be possible on a long run. I came to know about the social work faculty from friends who are a part of the MHRM program. If not admitted I will have to reconsider many things before doing something else. Jaimeen Baxi
