Dear Parents of St. Sya Academy: Thank you for partnering with us in, Raising a Nation, One Seed at a Time. The Purpose of this contract is to clarify school policies and procedures as well as to insure that there is a mutual understanding between staff, parents, and students. It will expedite administrative and accounting duties allowing the staff to focus on teaching responsibilities. Rest assured that the staff at St. Sya Academy will do their best to serve you and your child this academic year. Please carefully read the statements below and indicate your agreement by providing a signature. This contract should be returned with your childs application form, immunization form, registration fees and book fees. This contract is a 180-day, 9 1/2 month agreement. Once signed you will be obligated for the entire contract period. *St. Sya Academy staff salaries are drawn solely from your tuition payments. Therefore, we ask that you follow the payment schedule accordingly so that all monetary matters can be handled in the most professional manner. Thank you. Tuition Fees for this Academic year is $440.00 per month each child. Weekly and Bi -weekly payment options are available. Weekly payments are due on Mondays. BiWeekly payments are due the 1st and 15th of each month. Monthly payments are due the rst week of the month. Please note also, that an additional charge of $50.00 will be attached to late payments after the 20th of each month. Your childs enrollment will be in jeopardy if payments are not made on schedule. * All children must abide by school rules or face disciplinary action as stated on the discipline policy. * Parents, please honor school hours which are 8:00am - 3:00pm Monday through Friday unless otherwise stated in the School Calendar or in the after-school program. * Students are expected to complete all homework assignments and parents signatures are required on all homework. The staff at St. Sya Academy does not allow students to perform below a C average. We will do all that we can to keep you abreast of your childs progress. However, we expect all parents to encourage scholarly behavior and stimulate the childs academic success by visiting libraries and museums, reviewing assigned homework and projects and relating it to their environment. * Students are expected to participate in cleaning up after themselves and maintaining the classroom daily. * All parents are expected to support the Obi Parent Collective and Volunteer and/or participate in one or more of the funding initiatives for St. Sya Expansion and Development. * We do not provide lunch or snacks. Parents are encouraged to send healthy lunches, 100% fruit juices, fruits and vegetable snacks. Please monitor the sweets, chips and other junk food because these foods greatly impair a childs ability to learn and focus on their work. During the fall and winter months warm food is best. We suggest that hot meals be sent in a thermos. We have refrigerator and convection oven available to all of our students. We appreciate your cooperation. * Along with proper foods each child should have a labeled personal spill proof water bottle. The water fountain is always available for rells. * No Personal toys are allowed at school, including inside book bags or lunch boxes, etc. This is to avoid lost or mixed up personal items. St. Sya has age appropriate toys that can be used for free play. * All personal items brought to school ie. book-bag, coats, blankets etc. must be labeled with students full name. * In honor of our Afrikan heritage we ask that children refrain from wearing any clothing or paraphernalia with non Afrikan images at St. Sya Academy. * Please indicate your understanding and agreement with this contract by signing below and again we thank you for your cooperation. Discipline Policy
Basics 1.Children are encouraged to respect and honor all members of the teaching staff. No profanity, violent outbursts, or disruptive behavior will be tolerated. 2.Children are expected to be courteous, respectful and polite to each other. 3.First infractions such as aggressive behavior towards another student are dealt with in the classroom by placing a child in an area separated from other classmates for age appropriate time spans: 1 minute for each year. This is for 3-5 year olds. 4. Parents of older students will be informed immediately if your child engages in inappropriate conduct as in statement 1, followed by a conference, and then In school suspension. Placed in separate room. 5. A Child who repeatedly disobeys school rules will be dismissed. St. Sya is not equipped to handle serious behavior problems that would interfere with and impede the academic progress of other students. 6. St. Sya is in a unique position of being able to communicate with parents everyday. Parents see their childs teacher as they arrive each morning and as they pick up their child after school. The value of this situation is benecial and productive and has added strength to parent/teacher relations. After School Application Form ! After school is $25 per week for current students enrolled at St. Sya Academy and begins at 3:00pm to 5:30pm. All other students are $35 per week. Schedule 3:00-3:15 Transition time 3:15-4:00 Snack and/or Outside time (Weather permitting) 4:00-5:15 Homework, Tutoring or Evening Activities Evening Activities may include: Drum Class Capeoira Class Art Tutorial Chess Club

5:15-5:30 Clean up 5:30 ALL students must be picked up. School is closed.
