Talk about Harry Potter books and movies. Ask ss which they have read/seen. What do they prefer read the book or see the movie? Do they know the names of any famous Arabic writers; the name of the writer of Harry Potter books. Have the reading worksheet folded and tell ss not to look at the text. Ask who the woman and the boy are? Read quickly to find out if they are right. Ask ss if they know anything about J.K. Rowlings life. Focus on the sentences of the detailed task and pre-teach any unfamiliar vocabulary. Eg famous, unemployed. Ss to the text again in detail and put events in order of when they happened. Ss match the words with the pictures, definitions or Arabic words. CCQ the meanings and uses of the words. Ss complete the restricted practice activity in pairs followed by open class feedback. Tasks A and B Ask ss to underline all the verbs in the sentences that they have just sequenced. Time line on the board Refer ss to the worksheet and have them work out how to change present simple verbs to past simple. Group Story Writing 4/5 ss per group. Each ss has a bland piece of paper. T will need to model and guide possibly with sentences on the board with blank spaces or prompts regarding use of language. When the story comes to an end they can read the jumbled story, pick the best one from their group and then read it to the class.
