Growth in Foreign Tourists Arrivals in the Country
Foreign Tourists Arrivals (FTAs) in India have registered a positive growth during each of the last 3 years. Protection and promotion of tourism industry is primarily the responsibility of the State Governments/Union Territory (UT) Administrations. In the event of any disease, epidemic, natural disaster or terrorist activities etc which affects domestic/foreign tourists in the country, Ministry of Tourism takes up the matter with concerned Ministry and the State Government for remedial measures.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Tourism (I/C) Shri K. Chiranjeevi in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.

Inflow and Outflow of Tourists To and From India

The number of Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) and Indian National Departures (INDs) have registered a positive growth during 2010, 2011 and 2012. The number of FTAs and INDs along with the growth rates during 2010, 2011, 2012 and January-July, 2013 are given below:

The Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEEs) from tourism in India are estimated at Rs.64,889 crores(Provisional) in 2010, Rs.77,591 crores (Provisional) in 2011, Rs.94,487 crores (Provisional) in 2012 and Rs.50,448crores (Provisional) in January- July, 2013. Ministry of Tourism does not compile the foreign exchange spent by Indian tourists on their foreign visits. This information was given by the Union Tourism Minister Shri K.
