WHY WEAR A BICYCLE HELMET
It's simple. Due to a fall from a bike, the helmet takes the
force of the blow instead the head. Although collisions
with cars or other vehicles are likely to be the most
serious, even a low-speed fall on a bicycle path can be
dangerous. Wearing a bicycle helmet is the most effective
way to prevent head trauma and a life-threatening head
injury.
HOW TO WEAR A BICYCLE HELMET
Wear the helmet flat on top of the head.
Make sure the helmet covers the top of the forehead
without tilting forward or backward.
Straps should form a V shape under each ear.
Fasten the chin strap below the chin not to the side
or along your jaw.
If the bicycle helmet rocks from side to side or front to
back, use included sizing pads to get a better fit.
AVOID COMMON HELMET MISTAKES
If the bicycle helmet is tilted forward, the back of your
head is more vulnerable to the force of a crash. To keep
the helmet flat on your head, tighten the chin strap. If the
helmet still tips forward, you may need a smaller helmet.
A bicycle helmet that tips backward is just as
problematic. When this happens, the front and side of
your head are vulnerable to the force of a crash. Again,
tighten the chin strap. If the helmet still tips backward,
you may need a smaller helmet.

Steve has over 35 years experience in the trial and
appellate courts of Missouri and Illinois and is the
recipient of the 2009 Lawyers Association of St. Louis
Award of Honor. He has served on the Board of
Governors of the Missouri Bar and is a past president
of both the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys and
the Lawyers Association of St. Louis. Steve is involved
in the community supporting Legal Services of Eastern
Missouri, Harris House, Nottingham Community
Access & Job Training High School, and Fair St. Louis.
Geoff previously founded and managed his own law
firm, Meyerkord Law Firm, LLC. He has extensive
workers compensation trial experience and has
participated in over a dozen jury trials, recovering
approximately fifteen million dollars for injured clients.
Geoff now manages the firms workers compensation
group and its day-to-day operations.
Brian is a thoughtful, hard-working attorney and an
adjunct professor at Webster University. Brian leads
the firms litigation group and financial operations. In
2011, Brian won his first settlement in excess of one
million dollars involving a construction accident. Brian
has also achieved appellate court success with the
establishment of the false light invasion of privacy tort
in Missouri.
Doreen is a passionate and tenacious healthcare
