Volunteering with Artists Creating Together


ACT is a non-profit organization that connects people with disabilities to the arts. To make our programs possible, we rely on wonderful people like YOU who volunteer your time and abilities to encourage the growth of artists with special needs. Below you will find our volunteer opportunities for this Fall, 2013. Thank you for giving ACT a hand!

Volunteer Opportunities Fall 2013 Weekly Volunteer Opportunities


Adult Art Classes: ACT offers a number of opportunities just for adults! Check out the diverse options offered and volunteer with one that fits your interest! Monday Art Classes: Each Monday from 6:307:30pm at ACT students have 4-10 week sessions in various art forms. Classes include Wearable Art, Glee Show Choir, and more! Classes begin Sept. 9 and run throughout the year. Tuesday Art Classes: Each Tuesday from 5:006:00pm at ACT, students have 4-10 week sessions in various visual art forms. Classes include the Art of Gardening, Learning from the Masters, and more! Classes begin Sept. 10 and run throughout the year. ACTion Drummers: Each Monday from 5:15-6:15 this performing drum troupe rehearses at ACT. Sign up to help out with this wonderful group of musicians for their rehearsals and community performances. Rehearsals begin Sept. 9 and run throughout the year. Arts and Mentoring: ACT a holds specialized art classes for GRPS transition students (18-26 yrs) from Glee show choir to Multi-Media art and from recycled art to pottery. Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30-11:30am. Classes begin the week of Sept. 9. One-Time Volunteer Opportunities


Movie Nights: ACT students age 16+ are invited to attend movie night to watch a film on the big screen at ACT. Volunteers help by assisting with a quick craft, handing out popcorn and chaperoning the evening. Friday, Sept. 20 & Dec. 13 from 6:30-9:00pm. Step Up for Down Syndrome: ACT will be providing arts and crafts activities at the Down Syndrome Association of West Michigans annual Walk. Come and paint faces, create paper flowers and much more! Saturday, October 12, 9:00am. Auction 2013! Thursday, November 7, come and help at ACTs 24th Annual Art Auction. The event will begin at 6:00pm and we will need volunteers at different times throughout the day as well as during the event. Open Studio at ACT: ACT students age 16+ will be invited to come for an evening of art-making! They will have a plethora of art materials to choose from and we are looking for volunteers to help in the creative process. Friday, Nov. 15 from 6:30pm-8:30pm. Early Childhood Night: Volunteer during this family fun and art night through crafting clay pieces, dancing with preschoolers, and assisting in creating rhythmic drum sounds. Thursday, Dec. 12, 5:30-7:00pm, Ken-O-Sha at Van Auken.
