Apologies, I failed to mention that Citizens Against Government Waste, too, has endorsed. Their letter is attached. I think weve got a great opportunity here to expose Washington math, and will be interesting to see who opposes such common sense.

As of several minutes ago, a budget is being considered on the Senate floor for the first time in nearly four years.

I want to let you know that Senator Sessions will be offering an amendment to the Murray budget to address the hiding of spending increases beyond the 10-year budget window. The amendment would create a point of order (POO) against legislation that increases direct spending in any of the four 10-year periods

beginning after 2023 increases in direct spending meaning spending above the CBO baseline. Any legislative changes that increase spending above that baseline would be subject to the point of order. To overcome the point of order, 60 senators must vote to waive it.

To know what the long-term cost of legislation is, the amendment directs, The Director of the Congressional Budget Office shall, to the extent practicable, prepare for each bill and joint resolution reported from committee! an estimate of whether the measure would cause a net increase in direct spending in any of the 4 consecutive 10-year periods after 20023.

Im sure you all remember the game played with the 10-year score in order to get the 10-year CBO score of Obamacare below $1 trillionwhen everyone knew the bill would be far more costly but CBOs 10-year score allowed Democrats to mislead the American people. This amendment would guard against this all too common practice.

The Sessions amendment has already gained support from Freedom Works, as well as Americans for Tax Reform. Hope you can also support this effort.
