Chapter 13: Goddess Aromatherapy
Like any true Goddess you will enjoy the pleasure or being perfumed and pampered. Goddesses have been using natural herbs, flowers, incense, oils and perfumes throughout time to connect body, mind and spirit. Today aromatherapy can be as simple as a spray from your favorite perfume bottle to the heated sense of an essential oil burner. The word perfume is actually Latin from ‘through smoke’ originating from the fragrance of incense. The Egyptian Goddesses are said to be the perfume queens - learning how to extract essential oils from everything from cedar wood to cinnamon. They associated perfumes with gods, spirituality, health and wellbeing. The Egyptians were the first to incorporate perfume into their culture followed by the ancient Chinese, Hindus, Israelites, Carthaginians, Arabs, Greeks, and Romans. The earliest use of perfume bottles is Egyptian and dates to around 1000 BC. It is believed that the art of aromatherapy actually originates from both Greek and Chinese Goddesses. Greek mythology shows that the knowledge of fragrance and perfume was something only Gods were gifted, and that knowledge of aromatherapy was a sign of status. To this day scent is connected with the celebrity, take all of the celebrity fragrance ranges for example – perfume and beauty go hand in hand, and Goddess are drawn to beauty, fragrance and elegance. It is a Goddesses right to know the power and benefits of scent and oil potions…

As a Goddess you can transform your surroundings and energy simply by utilizing knowledge of which smells are connected and trigger your moods – allowing you to alter and channel different energy levels by a few drops of Goddess potion! Think of it as magic potion – it is more fun that way! The difference between a perfume and an essential oil can be what separates a Jane Doe from a Goddess. Essential oils are natural, while perfumes are artificial – the difference in the two can have a huge impact on how they affect the mood of the wearer. And more often than not the Goddess will be attracted to the more natural scent of the two. Below are a few natural oil blends that stimulate and transform different moods. These oils can be burnt into the air of your surroundings, placed onto your temple and pulse points, put onto a cotton ball and slipped into your pillow case or added to water and sprayed as a mist through your hair and over your clothes. “A woman's perfume tells more about her than her handwriting. ” ― Christian Dior Dior is not wrong! And most modern day Goddesses find it hard to find time for potions and essential oil blends. Just as much can be said about the keynote scents in your perfume as what essential oils you are drawn to. The fragrance wheel splits classes of fragrances into sister groups to help group similar scents and blends. What family of scents you connect with can hold keys to your Goddess type – from past lives, careers and how to best recharge yourself. For example a Goddess who likes fresh smelling perfumes such as Miyake L’Eau d’Issey for Women, Davidoff Cool Water Game Woman may have had an Atlantis past life, will often feel they can collect themselves or reconnect by having a bath, shower, swim or surf.
