KEYNOTES: This Day in Keys History
August 28, 1995: Todd La Rocca struck out nine over seven innings and allowed a pair of runs, leading the Keys to a 3-2 victory over the Cannons at Harry Grove Stadium. Ryan Hendricks drove home all of Frederick’s runs with one swing, a 3-run homer in his second at-bat. STREAKING TO DOUBLE-A: Keys utility player Travis Adair has hit in 18 straight games, batting .375 with six doubles, a triple, a homer, eight RBIs and 10 runs scored during his streak, which is the longest streak for a Key this season is tied for the fourth-longest streak in the Carolina League this season. But that’s where his CL streak will end as Adair, who has 27 hits during his streak, was promoted to Double-A Bowie this afternoon. RUDY ON THE RUN: Keys outfielder Johnny Ruettiger stole his 41st base of the season last week, putting him four behind the Carolina League’s active steals leader, Potomac’s Michael Taylor. Former P-Nat Billy Burns still leads the league with 51 steals and was promoted to Double-A on Aug. 2. Ruettiger’s 41 swipes are the second-most for a Key since the 1994 season, when Harry Berrios stole 42 bases and Kimera Bartee stole 44. Frederick’s single-season steals record belongs to Tim Raines Jr., who stole 81 bases in 2000.
