OUR MISSION STATEMENT To conserve and protect native wildlife and its natural habitat through education and rehabilitation

Helping Wildlife Recover

About Us
MARS operates a Designated Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre situated on three acres at 6817 Headquarters Road in Merville, near Courtenay, B.C. With federal and provincial permits we have been providing professional care for wildlife since 1993. MARS specializes in small indigenous wildlife, waterfowl and raptors. We help rescue and coordinate rehabilitation efforts with veterinarians and other rehabilitation centres (including transportation of patients to specialized care). MARS is not a zoo; our patients need peace and quiet to recover from their injuries. MARS has been providing education about protection of wildlife and habitat. Sharing what we learn from our wildlife rehabilitation program is an integral part of our work.

How Can I Help?

The birds and mammals in our care require countless hours of treatment, medication and feeding. If you are looking for the perfect contribution that will make a difference, ask us about: Sponsorship You can choose to sponsor the recovery of a specific patient. Buy a sponsorship for yourself, or as a gift for others. Leave a Legacy for Wildlife Ask your financial advisor about a planned giving program that includes MARS. Make a Donation You can either make a one time cash donation, or consider an annual membership with MARS. Volunteering Our volunteers devote a variety of skills and time at MARS, which can be a very rewarding experience.
