Edited By: Brian Goessling Email: speednews@speedcouncil.org Website: speedcouncil.org/speednews

The next FE exam is scheduled for Saturday, October 24th. The deadline to submit an application to the Kentucky State Board for the exam is August 1st. Applications are available at the Kentucky State Board web site at: http://kyboels.ky.gov/NR/rdonlyres/ D65A9132-E41B-4A00-A8F1-688F03D25CA6/0/fourappl.pdf The FE, or Fundamentals of Engineering Exam, is the exam students take prior to taking the Principles and Practice of Engineering Exam. Both of these exams are required before becoming a professional engineer. Being a professional engineer is particulary important for civil engineering students and those that will seek work that will require them to sign off on plans that require a professional engineer. Additional information about the exam can be found at the following sites: http://kyboels.ky.gov/ http://www.els-examreg.org/state_info.php?state=Kentucky http://www.ncees.org/exams/fundamentals/fe_exam_specs.pdf Speed School offers a review course during the spring semester for the April exam. A review course for the October exam is not offered by Speed School.

Free Ice Cream
As a result of poor weather last week, Freshman Council will be hosting a free ice cream sundae bar on Tuesday, June 16th, at around 3:00 pm outside JB Speed (or inside if the weather does not permit it.) First come, first served, so hurry out!

Four switches can be turned on or off. One is the lightswitch for the incandescent overhead light in the next room, which is initially off, but you don't know which. The other three switches do nothing. From the room with the switches in it, you can't see whether the light in the next room is turned on or off. You may flip the switches as often and as many times as you like, but once you enter the next room to check on the light, you must be able to say which switch controls the light without flipping the switches any further. (And you can't open the door without entering, either!) How can you determine which switch controls the light? What can you catch but not throw? I have holes in my top and bottom, my left and right, and in the middle. But I still hold water. What am I? Arrange the numbers 1 through 9 on a tic tac toe board such that the numbers in each row, column, and diagonal add up to 15. Can you place six X's on a Tic Tac Toe board without making three-in-arow in any direction?
