KEYNOTES:
HOLD ON FOR ONE MORE DAY: If Frederick falls tonight, the Keys will go without a series win at home in the second half. Their last series win at Harry Grove Stadium came against Salem May 24-26, taking the final two of three from the Red Sox. Frederick is 0-7-3 in home series this half. TITLES UP FOR GRABS: At .312, Keys catcher Michael Ohlman is tied with former P-Nat Billy Burns for the Carolina League batting crown with three games to play. Burns has been promoted to Double-A Harrisburg. If Ohlman, surpasses Burns this weekend, he would be the first Key to win the batting Crown since Robert Widlansky hit .340 in 2009. Ohlman also leads the league in slugging (.524), leading Carolina’s Joey Wendle by 10 points. The last Key to win the slugging title was Brandon Waring (.520) in 2009, which set the Keys’ single-season slugging record. RUDY ON THE RUN: Former Keys outfielder Johnny Ruettiger stole his 43rd base of the season Wednesday, putting him third in the Carolina League, six ahead of Lynchburg’s Matt Lipka. Ruettiger was promoted to Double-A Bowie on Friday. His 43 swipes are the second-most for a Key since the 1994 season, when Harry Berrios stole 42 bases and Kimera Bartee stole 44. Frederick’s single -season steals record belongs to Tim Raines Jr., who stole 81 bases in 2000. Barring a return from Bowie this weekend, Ruettiger will finish with the seventh-most steals in a season in Keys history.

This Day in Keys History
August 31, 1992: Stanton Cameron and Jose Millares hit two-run homers as the Keys beat Prince William 8-4 at Harry Grove Stadium. T.R. Lewis also drove in a pair of runs in the victory.
