MEASUREMENTS SYSTEMS FOR RECORDING AND PROCESSING THE VIBRATIONS SIGNALS Fig.1. Block scheme of the vibrations measurements systems In fig.1 there is the block scheme of the vibrations measurements systems, which includes: - three B&K Type-4507 B001 accelerometers; - A/D NI 9234 acquisition board; - DELL notebook; - B&K 4294 acceleration calibrator. The vibrations measurements consisted in measuring and recording the acceleration signals simultaneously on three perpendicular directions (axial, transversal and vertical) using the three Delta type (with incorporated amp) independent accelerometers. The subsequent processing of the vibration signals were performed using a dedicated dBFA program. The respective 2000 Hz or 10000 Hz sampling frequencies are sufficient for avoiding the aliasing and processing errors. Before beginning the vibrations measurements each channel was calibrated using a B&K 4294 acceleration calibrator, which generates a calibrated signal of 10 m/s2 at the 159,2 Hz frequency. The analyze in the time and frequency domains includes the following aspects: - the acceleration, speed and displacement signals recorded for a period of 1-2 minutes, which represent the instantaneous value in m/s 2; mm/s and m;

- the frequency specters on the domain between 0,5 Hz and 1000 Hz which permit the identification of the spectral amplitudes and rms global values on the domain between 1 Hz and 1000 Hz. 2.The processing of the vibration measurements results The results of the vibrations measurements from the cooling towers in july 2012, which were obtained using the acceleration recordings and the subsequent processing with the dBFA program, are presented in table 1 at the points specified in the contract. The values from the table represent effective values (rms=root mean square) of the speed and displacement on the three directions: - axial (along the cooling tower building); - transversal (perpendicular on the axial direction, horizontally); - vertically ( on the normal direction of the place) The time variation of the axial speed in the 12D point is shown in Fig.2; - the abscissa: time (sec), the ordinate: speed (mm/sec) The time variation of the axial speed in the 12C point is shown in Fig.3; The speed specters in the 12D point for the three directions are shown in Fig.4; - the abscissa: frequency (Hz), the ordinate: speed (mm/sec) The rms values for the three categories of vibrations (mm/s) are written in the upper right corner. The displacement specters in the 12D point for the three directions are shown in Fig.5; - the abscissa: frequency (Hz), the ordinate: displacement (m) The rms values are written for the three categories of vibrations, which are expressed in m, are shown in the upper right corner. The vertical displacement specters in point 12D and point 12C are shown in Fig.6. 3. Conclusions In terms of monitoring the vibrations during the operation of the power plant it is important to permanently observe the vibrating mode in relation to the attention and alarm limits of the speed and displacement of the vibrations, which are shown in Table 2.

The vibration levels, which are measured in the points established in the contract, have values that are inferior to the attention limit of Table 2. Therefore it can be considered a normal state of the foundations vibrating mode and the cooling towers support pillar. The accelerometer mounting bracket, which is not reinforced with the vibrant structure, might be the cause of some relatively higher vibration levels, which are still under the accepted limits.
