INTRODUCTION
BMY Fibreglass Industries was established in early 1985. The companys objective was to develop installations for manufacture of Fibreglass products by Contact Moulding, Machine Moulding and Filament Winding Processes. Production was started in June, 1985 and since then, the company has never looked back. BMY have supplied Fibreglass Tanks, Pipes & Filters, Sheets Domes, Prefabricated Houses, Cooling Towers and many other custom built products to our Industrial and commercial customers. In addition, since 1985, we have specialized in manufacturing Fibreglass Pipes and Filters for Tubewells.

OWNERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT

BMY Fibreglass Industries is owned and managed by Engineers who have extensive field experience both in Pakistan and Internationally.

PLANT
Presently BMYs manufacturing facility occupies a covered area of approximately 7500 square feet, where Fibreglass Products are manufactured by Contact Moulding and Filament Winding Process. Wood Pattern Making, Machining, Steel Fabrication and Automatic Slot Making Machine facilities are also available.

USE OF FIBREGLASS PIPES / FILTERS IN TUBEWELLS

Fibreglass Filters and Blank Pipes have been used successfully by different projects of WAPDA for the last 15 years. At present WASA (LDA) WAPDA, Public Health Engineering Department, SAZDA and many other concerns are using Fibreglass for all of its sweet water and saline water zones. Brass Strainers which are currently made locally do not follow any International Standards of quality control. Slotting is also done manually which does not ensure uniform flow of water. Brass Filters are welded with steel pipes which encourages glavanic corrosion. In contrast Fibreglass Pipes are manufactured based on rigorous International Standards. Raw materials are imported from major International Manufacturers and no foreign materials can be mixed. Finished goods are rigorously tested against crushing / tensile / compression and impact loads. Slotting is performed on accurate automatic machines which have good accuracy.

COMPARISON WITH PVC

Furtherance, when Fibreglass Blank & Strainer is compared with PVC which is a bit cheaper version does not also match the qualities which can be achieved by Fibreglass. In Fibreglass Slotted Pipe, the open area can be achieved upto 11-12% whereas in PVC the open area is hardly available upto 6%. Thus continuous high flow of water in the same area in the Fibreglass Material can be achieved as compared to PVC.

ECONOMICS:
Fibreglass Filters are cheaper as compared with brass. Being lighter in weight their transportation & installation costs are much less. Life expectancy is two to three times as compared with brass.

ECONOMICS:
Considering the above properties of Fibreglass, the Fibreglass is suitable for Tubewells more than any of the conventional material and its lowering is also more economical and less time consuming as compared to conventional materials as in the field jointing is one by the insertion of Nylon strips in Bell & Spigot joint which is builtin in each pipe i.e. every pipe has nipple on one side and bell on the other side. Thus jointing at site does not involve any welding and other cumbersome procedure. Therefore, lowering is done in very short time, eliminating the risk of bore collapse.
