International Conference-2013

The View Point
Today, the Business climate in India is shaped by its history, and operating in that climate requires an understanding of the principles and values emerging from our history. India is a land of great leaders like Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Lal Bahadur Shastri and Indira Gandhi who played an indispensable role in changing the perspective of world towards India. The farsightedness and pragmatic characteristics of the leaders can be assumed from the fact that they framed the Constitution of India by inducting the best possible clauses of the world. It is important that our students, the future managers must deconstruct the development and rise of the modern Indian business model completely enough to glean several important lessons. The Union Bu dget was a clever attem pt to mislead the pu blic in an electio n year. The Fina nce Minister’s spee ch offered lit tle remedy fo r th key problems e facing the In dian economy that he himself ac knowledged: slowdown of growth, rising fiscal de ficit and curr ent account de ficit. The current cr isis required the governmen t to stimulate dom estic investm ent by encour aging consumption; instead the FM remained focu sed on foreign investors. Co ntrolling infla tion required expa nsion of PD S and reinfo rced subsidies on energy and fo cus on increa sing agricultural ou tput in pulses and oilseeds; in stead the governm ent has relie d on hope. M ee ting the demands and aspiratio ns of the pe ople required subs tantial and re al increase in social sector expend iture; instead the governmen t has resorted to st atistical tricks and gimmicks . Th ere is no evidence of the govern ment being se rious about better usage and mon itoring of the funds spent on these public provision s. Yogesh Pandey PGDM(Gen), 20 12-2014
