The Deacon nomination process is open until September 15. Seven deacons will be elected this year. Nomination ballots are available outside the church office. The Nominating Committee has placed surveys for everyone to fill out on the table outside the church offices, and in Sunday School folders. Please take one, fill it out, and return it to the green folder on the table. Please ensure that your name is on the reservation list each week for Wednesday night meals. This will assist the office in ordering adequately and ensuring food for everyone. Reservations or cancellations need to be in the office by Monday afternoon. In an effort to be good stewards of our environment the office is trying to cut down on unnecessary paper usage. If you normally receive a box of offering envelopes, but do not use them, please let the church office know. Unmarked envelopes will still be available. Please join us for a Gift Card Shower in honor of Alicia. We congratulate her on her upcoming marriage, and will miss her as she departs. We wish her the best in all her future endeavors. Sunday, September 22, 3-5 pm (floating), FBC Parlor If you are willing to serve in Extended Session, please speak with Mary Ruth Parrish. Please make sure all budgets are turned in to the office by September 15.

We have often heard the saying "When one door closes, another opens," but what happens when are the person closing the door on our neighbor? What happens when we close our eyes and forget to see? Christ did not come into this world to close our eyes or to make God inaccessible. Christ came to bring sight and tear down barriers between people. We are to be agents of God's never-ending, agape love to our neighbors; the lights in the darkness. Think about where you have been closing doors, and pray about where you can reach out to your neighbors and invite them in.
