Rules & Regulations

Ragging in any form in the hostel is illegal. "Ragging is prohibited as per the decision of the Supreme Court of India in Writ Petition No. (C)656/1998". Ragging is now a crime. No one can feign ignorance of the law. Under the prohibition of ragging Act 1997 those who indulge in raggin can be punished. Jail for period ragging from six month to 10 years & fine up to Rs.50,000/-.

No student is allowed to remain outside the hostel premises after 7:30 P.M. Total No. of students in a room will be decided by the Admission Committee/Chief Warden/Warden that can be altered without any prior information to students. Room No. will be allotted by warden. Students are not allowed to shift their rooms. Students seeking room shifting must contact to the warden with written application. Rooms can be changed at any time during the year by the warden.

At the end of year a student should vacate her/his room and hand over the charge of the room including all items on the inventory to the caretaker-or-any other official of the hostel authorized by the warden. Any student desiring or retain her/his room during the vacation

must seek prior permission of her/his warden. Any act of intimidation, violence or willful damage to property and riotous behavior constitutes as offence.

Use of audio equipment in hostel is acceptable only if it is not objectionable to other residents. No student is allowed to use any sort of narcotics, smoking, consumption of alcoholic and gambling any student found involved in use of possession of the same will be expelled from the hostel/Panellized for Rs. 500/- in addition to other disciplinary action. Outing from hostel for ladies will be allowed only on one day in a week i.e. Sunday 5:00 P.M. To 7:00 P.M. Night stay at local guardian's house is not allowed. There will be no permission granted to hostellers to attend any local function or gathering because of security reasons. The hostellers have to follow the rules and regulations related to timing of T.V. Room, hostel mess, play ground etc. Constituted by hostel Warden/care taker or any other official authority of hostel in-charge. The hostellers are not to enter any unnecessary conversation, discussions, quarrel or altercation with the hostel staff. If anyone has any complaint against any employee of the hostel, a written complaint against the person is to be lodged to the warden. Use of abusive, vulgar and unparliamentarily language against the hostel/mess staff is strictly forbidden.

In case of any kind of damage in Hostel Property, all residents of that hostel will be panelized and the suitable penalty will be deducted from the caution money. If any Student is Expulsed from hostels, he/she will not be entertained in future for accommodation in hostel. Usage of Mobile phones is not allowed in hostels.

Silence hours have to be observed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. b. Residents desirous of consulting their warden about their day to day problems can do so at the time specified by them. c. Residents are required to bring their own bedding and other items of personal use. d. No resident shall shift from the allotted room to another room without permission. No furniture should be shifted from one room to another. e. Any resident damaging the hostel property in any manner shall pay the full cost, including the installation charges, if any. In addition, she would also be liable to be fined. f. Cooking inside the hostel rooms is strictly forbidden. Use of any electrical gadgets, like Refrigerators, Heater, Immersion Heater, Kettle, TV and VCD etc. is also prohibited. Any forbidden gadget, found in a hostel room, shall be confiscated and a fine of Rs. 500 may be imposed on the owner for the first violation, Rs.1000 for the second and expulsion, thereafter g. Residents shall maintain hygiene and keep their rooms/wash rooms and hostel premises neat and clean. Hostel Rooms will be inspected/checked by hostel/University authorities at any time. 14 h. Residents are expected to come to Dining Hall, Common Room, Visitors Room, Reading room and Office properly attired, failing which they shall be liable for disciplinary action. i. No items from places of common use like newspapers and magazines shall be taken to rooms. A default in this regard may attract a fine of Rs.100 per item. j. The residents are responsibe for the safety of their valuable belongings. There is no liability on the hostel staff for the loss of money, jewelry or any other item from their rooms or from any other premises of the Hall of Girls Residence. k. Residents are not allowed to hand over the keys of their rooms to any person other than the hostel authorities. l. All residents shall be issued a Resident I-Card from the Office of the Provost. Residents must keep I-card with them at all times and produce the same on demand by hostel authorities and security staff. In case of loss, a duplicate card may be issued on payment of Rs. 50. m. No resident shall open her room by breaking the hostel lock or window pane etc. Such actions shall be liable for fine/expulsion from the hostel. Residents shall abide by all the rules and instructions given in the Hostel Guidelines and those that are notified by hostel/University administration from time to time on the Notice Board of the Hostels. They are not to plead ignorance of the same.

HOSTEL RULES AND REGULATIONS


1. The hostel facility is not mandatory and is available to a student on his/her written request. The student has to fill in an application form to enroll his or her name as a boarder along with an undertaking in writing that he/she shall abide by the hostel rules.

2. Hostel membership shall be terminated automatically at the end of each academic year. Boarders who are desirous of retaining the room shall make a fresh application for readmission for the next academic session. 3. The management reserves the right to refuse admission to the hostel to any student without assigning any reason and can expel a boarder in the interest of the institution as and when necessary. 4. A student who once reserves his/her seat and pays for the hostel fees will not be eligible for refund if he/she chooses not to stay in the hostel for that academic year. 5. Boarders of each room are responsible for the furniture, fittings etc. and any damage to the hostel property is to be recovered from them. 6. Ragging in any form is not permissible under Act 59, CRPC. On violation of such rules the boarder will be expelled from the hostel as well as from the Institute. 7. Cleanliness has to be maintained by the boarder. The bathrooms, toilets, common usage area are to be taken care of properly, which is most important. 8. Any form of gambling is strictly prohibited in the hostel. 9. Use of drugs, alcohol, gutka, pan, cigarette, is strictly prohibited inside the hostel and the institute premises. 10. In case of any serious illness or infectious disease, the boarder should report it to the caretaker/Welfare officer/Superintendent concerned and all the medical expenses will be borne by the boarder concerned. 11. Each boarder will be provided with a cot, a chair and a table, which are to be properly taken care off. 12. Students are advised not to keep their valuables and cash with them. They are also advised to keep their boxes and suitcases always locked and to deposit excess money (if any) in the bank. The management shall not be responsible for any theft or damage to them. 13. Students shall not organize or address any meeting in the hostel without the knowledge/ prior permission of the hostel warden. 14. Any damage to the college property will be subjected to penalty. Chief/ Superintendent are authorized to change the allotment of the boarders room, as and when required.

RULES REGARDING DISCIPLINE IN THE HOSTEL

All the boarders should remain present in the hostel by the time which is allotted. Hostel gate shall remain open from 6.00 AM to 10 PM. In case of checking in during other time, the Superintendent should be intimated beforehand.

All the boarders should switch off lights and fans when not in use. In case of violation, the boarders will be charged a minimum fine of@ Rs 500. All lights of the hostel room should remain switched off at 12 midnight every day. At any point of time heater/room heater/ electric iron or any other electrical items are not allowed in the hostel premises. Anybody found using the above items would be charged a fine of @ Rs 1000. Prior permission is required from the college Principal for using the personal computer inside the hostel premises for which an extra amount of Rs 2000/- per year has to be deposited in advance towards the electricity charges. Hostel boarders should not deface hostel walls or misuse any facility inside the hostel. For any damage done, the cost of repair/replacement has to be borne by the boarder concerned/ all boarders living in that room/ hostel. Silence has to be maintained to allow others to study. Everybody is required to keep her/his living and study place clean. Nobody should go to the roof top at any point of time. If any dispute arises, it should be settled in consultation with the hostel warden and if not settled, it should be brought to the notice of the Sr. Warden/ Chief Warden/ Registrar. Visiting hours for ladies hostel is from 5.30 PM to 6.30 PM on weekdays and between 02.00PM to 6.00PM on Sundays and Holidays.

10. Only the authorized local guardians / parents will be entertained as visitors in the visiting room. No other person will be allowed to meet the boarders inside the hostel. 11. No visitor/parents/siblings/cousins/any other relatives will be allowed to stay overnight in the hostel.

12. Hostel boarders are not permitted to use their own stereos, music systems, televisions, VCRs, cell phones etc. 13. In case of serious illness or injury, a boarder shall be admitted as indoor patient by the warden in a suitable hospital as suggested by the boarder. 14. No student is allowed to keep any vehicle in the hostel premises. 15. Any boarder who wishes to go on leave during the academic session will have to obtain permission from the HOD concerned. Further he/she will fill up the form available with the caretaker/welfare officer and after the leave is duly signed by the parent or the local guardian. 16. Any boarder wishing to go for private tuitions or any other course will take prior permission from his/her guardian and superintendent. (S)he must furnish full address, telephone number and the documents duly signed by the concerned Institution Head(Tutorial institute). 17. Hostel timings are to be strictly followed and no cooking other than the mess is allowed in the hostel. No food parcel will be allowed inside the room except during illness and with permission from the warden. 18. A boarder should maintain discipline in the dining hall. No boarder should misbehave with the service boy or any other staff member of the college during the breakfast, lunch or dinner.Anyproblem face during the breakfast, lunch or dinner may kindly be intimated to the superintendent immediately through proper channel. 19. A boarder may be expelled from the hostel on any of the following grounds: theft, ragging, abnormal behavior, use of drugs, alcohol, gutka, pan, causing indiscipline, violation of rules, non- payment of fees. A boarder expelled on disciplinary grounds shall forfeit his/her fees and deposits.

Discipline and Civic behavior within the HoR: a. The Residents must ensure peace and tranquility within the Halls of Residence area such that they do not cause disturbance to other Residents. b. The Residents will behave as per the social ethics and respect the privacy of others at all the time.

c. A Halls of Residence Accommodation is a place where students are expected to study and have adequate rest. As such, due consideration must be accorded to other inmates at all times. This would be implemented by keeping the volume of radios & hi-fi sets, multimedia gadgets low. d. The same is enforced during parties/other social gatherings in the HoRs wings if and when permitted by the Wardens. In case of complaints from other residents, suitable disciplinary action will be taken. e. Boys must abstain from unsolicited attention seeking behaviors and/or gestures towards girls that can be construed as harassment. f. Outside the rooms, the Residents will not be dressed in a manner that would offend anyone within or outside the campus. g. Residents will not use loud abusive or offensive or inciting language while conveying their view points. h. Parking of vehicle should be done in authorized parking areas. If any vehicle found at a place other than authorized parking, the owner would be fined a minimum fine of Rs. 500/-. i. Residents are NOT allowed to transfer any furniture from one room to another. j. Inside the room, cheap posters displaying vulgarity will not be permitted on the walls or elsewhere in the room. k. Non-residents of Halls of Residence must not give the Halls of Residence address for their posts. Residents must check the Snail Mail link at this website everyday. Mails which are older than 10 days will be disposed by the Hostel Supervisor. l. Residents and visitors are not permitted to sit on parapet or railings or stair cases or any unsafe area.

m. Drying clothes on the room window and staircase railing is strictly prohibited. Drying of clothes should be done at the place designated for the same, e.g. clotheslines provided in the designated areas. n. Residents are not allowed to bring food plates inside the Halls of Residence. If any student (need not be a HMC member), Hostel Supervisor or any administrative authority finds a student carrying a plate inside the Halls of Residence, he will be questioned and if found violating the rule, he will be fined an amount of Rs. 50/-. This amount should be paid within 72 hours to the Hostel Supervisor and the receipt for the same should be collected from the Supervisor. If the student fails to pay the penalty within the stipulated time, the warden will forward this case to the Disciplinary Committee for appropriate disciplinary action. o. A sick student (certified by doctor) can get food in the room. To bring food for a sick student, either the sick student or his friends must (intimate) send an email to hostel_supervisor@daiict.ac.in with copy to warden_boyshr@daiict.ac.in and cafeteria_committee@daiict.ac.in. p. Residents are permitted to use computers (provided they are allowed to do so as per the Rules governing the usage of the same), table Lamps, and Audio Systems. Hostel Supervisor should be informed in writing if a resident wishes to keep any of these items in the room. q. Computers are to be registered with Hostel Supervisor within a week of bringing the computer into the campus and a permanent gate pass is to be acquired for taking it in or out from the campus. Contact the hostel supervisor for more details on this issue. r. For obtaining Intranet connectivity, the resident has to apply for same to the Hostel Supervisor. Initially Hostel Supervisor will provide the data patch chord and charge Rs. 50/- as deposit (will be refunded with caution deposit). s. All electrical switches and gadgets must be switched off when not in use. t. Use of high power consuming electrical equipment is STRICTLY PROHIBITED. These include irons, heaters, ovens, refrigerators, TV, Kettles and the like. Its against the rule as well as highly dangerous to keep such gadgets in your room. Any resident having the same in his/her room would be severely punished with a minimum of expulsion from the Halls of Residence. u. No cooking is permitted in the Halls of Residence.

Maintenance of Halls of Residences: a. Residents are individually responsible for keeping their rooms, bath rooms/toilets neat and clean. The common areas too must be kept clean and tidy at all times and residents should avoid littering the place and instead use the dustbins for the same. The Institute/Halls of Residence will undertake the housekeeping of common areas only. b. Residents will be responsible for adhering to the electricity, water etc. conservation plans announced from time to time. Any misuse observed or detected will result in an imposition of

appropriate fine, as prescribed from time to time. This may be for the whole floor of the affected wing(s). This would be deducted from the advance paid by the residents or from the caution deposit. c. The HMC members of the respective floors/wings or the Hostel Supervisor should be informed by the students through emails or personally for problems pertaining to water, electricity, furniture and the like. If the problems remain unsolved for reasonably long time, the students can escalate the matter by reporting it to the respective wardens. d. Any damage to Halls of Residence property must be reported immediately to the Hostel Supervisor. The residents will be charged for all willful damages either on detection or while vacating the room. e. The Institute reserves the right to make spot checks of the rooms without prior notice to the students. Every effort will be made to respect the privacy and dignity of the residents. f. Drilling and other civil works, which may alter the structure of the Halls of Residence, are strictly prohibited. g. All rooms will have their own fixed inventory; copy of the same will be handed over to the occupant who will be responsible for their maintenance in good condition. h. No private items of furniture are allowed in the Halls of Residence. However students may bring their personal furniture, if advised by a doctor, by producing medical certificate to the Hostel Supervisor and obtaining written permission from the respective Halls of Residence Wardens. i. The residents are expected to bring mattress, pillow, linen and personal clothing. j. The residents of the Halls of Residence, through the Hostel Management Committee (HMC) report any maintenance related issue to the Halls of Residence authorities.

General Procedure The hostel rooms are subject to inspection by the Hostel authorities to make sure that they are kept neat and tidy and no unauthorized items like liquor, drugs, lethal weapons etc., are kept in the room. The hostellers themselves are personally responsible to safeguard their belongings. They are not to keep large amounts of cash or valuables like gold ring, costly wristwatch etc., in their rooms. They should also take care of their purse, calculators, cell phones, computers and books. In case of theft or loss of any items it will not normally be possible to carry out any investigation. The hostellers are advised to keep their rooms, boxes, suitcases, cupboards, etc., securely locked with good quality locks. All movements from and to the hostels should be recorded in the movement register kept with the security guard at the entrance of the hostel and should be properly signed. No hosteller is permitted to stay out of the hostel beyond 9:00 pm in the case of Men's Hostel and 7: 00 pm in the case of Ladies' hostel. The security guard has instructions to lock the gate after the stipulated timings as mentioned

above. If they have any local relatives with whom they intend to stay during weekends, or if they have any local relatives who would like to visit them in the hostel, the names and addresses of such local relatives, duly authenticated by the parents/ guardians, should be furnished along with the application. The hostellers are generally discouraged from going out of the hostels during weekends and holidays. However, in extraordinary circumstances, if they want to leave the hostel, written permission has to obtained from the Warden. Whenever they leave the hostel for vacations they have to inform the Warden in writing about their travel plan. The girl students, however, are required to obtain permission from the Chief Warden. They are also required to return on the specified dates. In addition they have to "Check out" and "Check in" in the movement register kept with the security guard of the block. At the time of starting of the semester, no student should lock any room other than the officially allotted room Students are not allowed to keep any power driven two wheeler vehicles in the hostel. The hostellers are not allowed to keep air coolers, musical instruments, cassette record players, computers, TV's, electric irons or any electrical equipment without written permission of the Chief Warden. Unauthorized possession will lead to confiscation of the goods. Use of Computers: Installation of computer systems in the hostel rooms should be done only after getting written permission from the Chief Warden. The usage of computer is for academic purpose only. The Hostel authorities will conduct surprise checks periodically and if anyone is found violating the above rule, disciplinary action will be taken against him/her. Use of cell phones:- Ordinary cell phone could be used by the student but not inside the class rooms, examination halls, Laboratory and Library. Hostel Discipline: Strict silence should be observed between 10.00 pm & 6:00 am. Perfect silence is to be maintained in the hostel premises including rooms, bathrooms, dining halls, corridors, common areas etc., Every student of the hostel should have the civic responsibility that he or she should not be a cause of nuisance, annoyance or disturbance to others. Overnight stay by Visitory/parents in hostel is strictly prohibhited. All hostellers have to be present in the dining hall every day to enable the Wardens to take the attendance. The hostellers are not to enter into any unnecessary conversation, discussions, quarrel or altercation with the hostel staff. If anyone has any complaint against any employee of the hostel, a written complaint against the person is to be lodged with the Warden. Use of abusive, vulgar and unparliamentarily language against the hostel/mess staff is strictly forbidden. The hostellers shall not waste food, electricity & water. Wastage of food is a national loss. If anyone is found indulging in such wastage, he/she will be asked to vacate the hostel, since wastage causes unnecessary and unavoidable expenditure to others. Smoking is prohibited in the hostel buildings. Gambling in any form such as playing cards (even without money at stake), consumption of alcohol, use of drugs and narcotics and even possession of such things are prohibited. Anyone found indulging in the use of such things will

not only be asked to vacate the hostel but also be rusticated from the college. Possession of any lethal weapons or any instrument / contrivance, which is likely to cause physical harm to others, is strictly prohibited. If any hosteller is found indulging in any form of instigation / intimidation / threat to any other hostellers he / she will be asked to vacate the hostel forthwith. In this regard, the decision of the Chief Warden is final and binding on the individual's concerned. Day scholars are not allowed in the hostel. Celebrating birthday parties inside the hostel is strictly prohibited. Collection of donation for any purpose (Religious / otherwise) is also strictly prohibited. Students are not allowed to play skating rollers and other outdoor games inside the hostel to prevent breakages and accidents. Sliding along the hand rails/rest of stairs and fast running/ climbing down should be totally avoided to prevent accidents. When leaving the rooms for attending classes or for vacation, etc., fans, electrical gadgets, lights etc., should be switched off. Glass windows are to be closed securely. Walking along staircases should be silent, gentle without creating nuisance / noise to fellow hostellers. Students are not allowed to stay in the hostel during the class hours unless the stay is unavoidable due to illness or any other valid reason. In such cases they should take the permission of the Warden and communicate the information to the Chief Warden in writting. Hostellers coming to the Hostel after the gate closing hours without prior permission or without valid reason would be fined. Regular late comers will not be allowed to stay in the hostel. Clock alarms should be switched off, when not in use. There have been instances when students have set the alarm and gone on long leave, and some of them ringing for hours and spoiling the peace of fellow hostellers. Water should be carefully used and not wasted. Wrong entry, improper / lack of entry in exit register, signing on behalf of another person, tampering with the entries, proxy attendance and misguidance of any nature are punishable. In case of any quarrel between or among room mates it should be reported to the Warden for appropriate action. Absentees / Latecomers (without prior permission from the Warden) will be suitably fined. Students coming late / or absent regularly will be expelled from the Hostel. Such students shall not be readmitted under any circumstances. Violation of any of these rules would result in punitive action and serious violations would be referred to the "Students Disciplinary Committee". The decision of the committee would however be final.

RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR HOSTEL RESIDENTS


1. Students desirous of staying in the hostel should express the same in the prescribed form. The option forms should be handed over to the Warden. Rules and Regulations that should be followed in the Hostel are listed below. 2. They have to pay the prescribed fee before joining the hostel; otherwise they will not be permitted to stay in the hostel. Payment in installments is not permitted.

3. No student should stay in the hostel when the College is working without specific permission from the Warden. 4. The mess timings are: Breakfast: 7.30am 8.00am Lunch: As mentioned in the college time table Tea: 3.30pm 4.00pm Dinner: 7.30pm 8.00pm 5. The study hours in the hostel are 9.00 am and 12.00 noon (on holidays) and 8.30 pm to 10.30 pm daily. During the study hours the students are expected to stay in their rooms and should avoid group discussions. 6. Students can entertain the visitors only during visiting hours. The normal visiting hours are between 4.00 pm and 6.00 pm on working days and between 2.00 pm and 6.00 pm on Sundays and other holidays. 7. Permission to go out of the hostel will ordinarily be given once in a month on a holiday. They can leave the hostel after 6.30 am and should return before 6.00 pm. 8. No student will be allowed to leave the hostel based on a phone call. Phone calls from outsiders, other than parents of the students, are strictly prohibited. 9. Parents are requested to give a list of authorized visitors /local guardians who can be permitted to visit the students in the hostel. Visitors other than those given in the list should get an authorization from the parents or the parents should intimate the Principal about the visit in advance. 10. Students will ordinarily be permitted to go home only if the College is closed continuously for 5 days or more. Students going out of hostel either to the city for a days visit or to their native places for holidays should enter the date and time of leaving the hostel and the proposed date and time of return to the hostel. 11. Any student desirous of attending a function in their house, a marriage or any other ceremony will be permitted to go only if the request is made directly by the parents to the Principal. 12. Local guardians authorized by parents of the students are expected to take care of the students welfare and provide moral support. They may visit the students periodically during visiting hours. The students are not permitted to stay in the local guardians houses overnight and care should be taken by the local guardians in not inviting their wards to their houses on phone. 13. Students who do not pay their hostel dues or are found guilty of misbehavior or bad conduct will be expelled from the hostels. 1. 4. Students should cooperate in carrying out maintenance work and vacate their rooms completely when the hostel management requires the rooms for this purpose. 2. 5. All the residents should sign the completed inventory form of their room. 3. 6. In case of damage to or loss of hostel property the cost will be recovered from the students responsible, if identified or from all the students of the hostel as decided by the hostel management. 4. 7. Pasting of posters, writings, wall chalking slogans of any kind or defacing the hostel in any form is not allowed 8. The residents shall not move any furniture / fittings from its proper allotted place. 5. 9. Smoking, use of tobacco, gutka, panmasala, alcohol and drugs etc. will not be permitted in the entire campus. Any student violating these norms will be referred

to the disciplinary committee for necessary action 10. All the students are expected to be properly dressed before moving out from the hostel premises, decent and dignified dress will reflect your personality. 6. 11. Male residents are not allowed in the ladies hostel and vice versa 7. 12. Residents are advised in their own interest not to keep money or other valuable in their rooms. If they keep the hostel authorities do not hold themselves responsible for any loss of private property belonging to residents. 8. 13. Parents shall directly send a letter / fax / e-mail to the Principal for permission to take the students for any important functions / emergency. 9. 14. No one other than parents and authorized local guardian is allowed to see the students in the hostel, students will not be allowed to take their student friends to meet their visitors, visitors are not permitted to go to the students room. 14. Using cell phones and other electronic instruments are prohibited if they found using, students will be fined of Rs. 500/- if they find using second time, it will be taken and will not be returned until student finish the course.

a) All residents of the hostel are required to follow the hostel rules and regulations. b) Allotment of rooms is solely at the discretion of the administration. c) Hostel facilities include boarding and lodging. It is meant for those students who are not residents of Jaipur, are serious in their studies, can maintain proper discipline and decorum and make regular payments against hostel charges. d) The rooms are provided with cots, mattresses, tables, chairs, almirah, & wardrobe. e) Residents are not allowed to bring their personal furniture to their rooms unless they have obtained prior written permission from the Warden for doing so. f) Loitering around the campus after 09:00 PM is strictly prohibited. g) Hostel residents will be solely responsible for any offence or casualty caused to individuals inside or outside the campus. h) The rooms shall be open to inspection by the Hostel Warden / Management, any time. i) The use electric appliances except computer/laptops are banned in the hostel. j) Students must obtain a No Dues Certificate from the Warden before leaving the hostel at the end of the session. k) Students are required to be in the University premises before 8 p.m for Boys and 6 p.m for Girls and in the hostel premises after 09 pm for Boys and 6 pm for Girls. l) Students are not permitted to keep any type of music system (Extra speakers/woofers) in their rooms. m) Parties of all nature are banned in the hostel premises (Specifically Birth Day Party at night) n) During the class timings students are expected to attend all the classes regularly & punctually.

o) If any day-scholar is found to be present in the hostel in the collusion with the hosteller, the former will be suspended from the university and the latter will be suspended from both the hostel and the university. p) Without prior information of the hostel warden, not even a single hosteller will enter another hostel.

GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR HOSTEL RESIDENTS (Session 2012-2013) (Applicable for Campus Hostel)
1. Students admitted to the hostel are assumed to be ladies / gentlemen, and of sufficient maturity to enable them to live in an adult environment. Such living involves full respect for the rights of others; a regard for self-discipline and a high standard of honesty and moral conduct. These regulations are framed not to restrict the conduct of individuals but to ensure that a large student body live and work harmoniously together with minimum of friction and misunderstanding. 2. All hostel residents shall strictly adhere to the mess and other timings of the hostel as may be prescribed from time to time. All hostel residents of Campus hostel are required to return to the hostel by 9:00 pm during summer and by 8.30 pm during winter (Dec, Jan & Feb). Campus hostel residents are required to return to campus latest by 8:00 pm during summers and by 7:30 pm during winter (Dec, Jan & Feb). In special circumstances where a student is required to return later than the prescribed time, due to some academic work, he/she is required to submit written authorization from his HOD/Dean, mentioning the specific time limits for which the student is to be permitted. 3. All hostel residents are expected to be in their rooms after 10:00 pm. 4. It is obligatory for every hostel resident to provide prior information to the Warden for leaving hostel for overnight stay at his/her parents place or local guardian authorized by the parents. If any hostel resident provides false information about his / her night stay (leave), it will be considered as a severe indisciplinary act, which may result into penal action. 5. Students are required to fill the hostel leave form if they wish to go on leave. 6. Every hostel resident entering / leaving hostel for outstation is necessarily required to enter his / her time of entry / exit in the register maintained by the Warden/Prefect and also give an application to the Warden. 7. If any student indulges in any act of indiscipline in the hostel, the designated Hostel disciplinary committee will take appropriate penal measures 8. Ragging, canvassing and/or harassment of any kind to other students by whatsoever names are strictly prohibited. Strict disciplinary action shall be taken against defaulters. Supreme Court guidelines on ragging will be applicable. 9. No hostel resident is permitted to use any electrical appliance, such as air-conditioners, heaters, coolers, music systems & speakers etc. in their rooms. Students found / reported using such items in the room will be charged a financial penalty of min Rs. 200/- and the objectionable appliance will be confiscated. 10. Residents may keep the electrical appliances, other than mentioned above, in their rooms. However, the residents are suggested to use the electrical appliances carefully. If there is any damage found/occurred in the room because of these appliances, the student will be charged a financial penalty of Rs 200/- and they will also have to bear the cost of damage. 11. Hanging of clothes in the balcony and/ or inside the rooms is not allowed on week days between Monday to Friday. If found, a fine of Rs 100/- will be charged. However, the residents may use the balcony on Saturdays/ Sundays and holidays to dry the clothes. 12. In case of damage to any building, furniture or other hostel property, the cost of repairing and/or replacement along with appropriate penalty/fine (a stringent deterrent) will be charged from the student(s) known to be immediately responsible. But, if the person(s) causing the damage is unidentifiable, the cost and penalty shall be recovered equally from all the residents of the hostel/ block/room. 13. Any hostel resident who is suffering from a communicable disease which requires constant medical attention shall vacate the hostel unconditionally immediately on having knowledge of disease/ailment. 14. In case of any emergency / hospitalization, the University/University/Institute will try to contact the parent / local guardian of the hostel resident to take their view. In case, due to any reason, the guardian could not be contacted, then the decision taken by the University/Institute will be acceptable to the parents / guardians. All expenses related to treatment will be borne by the parent / guardian. Students are required to provide information if they have been suffering from any particular medical problems / allergy with any medicine. 15. University/Institute is not obliged to take the student to the hospital. However, in emergency cases, help may be provided to the students to reach to the hospital. 16. The students may be allowed to keep their vehicles in the hostels. However, movement of vehicles is not allowed in the campus from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, except on non-teaching days. 17. Any association, active or passive, by any hostel resident with any unlawful organization, possession and/or consumption of alcoholic drinks, drugs, or any other intoxicant by whatsoever name, smoking or possession of any kind of ammunition or weapon of assault or fire-arm or any other illegal possession are strictly prohibited within the hostel premises. If any hostel resident is found / reported in possession of any of the

items mentioned above by the university authorities or local authorities like civil administration/police, the concerned student will be held responsible. 18. Request for room allocation with specific location or partners cannot be guaranteed; nevertheless, efforts will be made to meet the desired request. If required by the management, residents may be asked to shift in other room. 19. Students are suggested not to keep valuables with them in the room and should lock respective cupboards all the time as a precaution. University/Institute will not be responsible for the personal belongings. 20. Each student shall be responsible for the furniture and the electrical fittings provided in his/her room while vacating the hostel. Each resident should get his/her room checked, for furniture / fittings & fixtures etc, by the Warden /Caretaker and hand over charge along with the room key. 21. While vacating the Hostel Room, the resident must ensure that bills of all services availed by him, in his personal capacity, are duly paid for speedy settlement of their security money. No dues clearance on the prescribed format is essential. 22. The warden may, at his / her discretion, may appoint one or more student prefects to serve as a coordinating link between the Hostel Warden and the residents. 23. In case of emergency, room may be opened in the absence of the residents by the management. 24. Residents shall vacate the room during the non-teaching months. Cloakroom may be facilitated to the residents, if required. 25. No hostel resident is permitted to invite or entertain any visitor(s)/guest(s) / parents in hostel Common Rooms / Corridors / Rooms of the hostels. Residents should meet the visitors / guests / parents in the visitors room only. 26. No female visitor(s)/guest(s) are allowed entry into the boys hostel. Similarly no male visitor(s)/guest(s) are allowed entry into girls hostel. 27. In emergencies or exceptional circumstances, parents may contact the warden for meeting their wards in the hostel Room, Common room or corridors with prior permission from the Warden. 28. No food delivery is allowed after 9.00 PM during summer and 8.30 PM during winter (Dec., Jan.& Feb.) 29. Students should submit medical fitness Certificate. 30. In case of losing hostel ID card, a fine of Rs 50/- will be charged for issuing a duplicate hostel ID card. Violation of any of the rules stated above, or as may be framed subsequently, shall invite strict disciplinary action.

HOSTEL RULES (Rules detailed below are not exhaustive and may be amended by the Warden from time to time. Such amendments will be notified on the Hostel Notice Board.) 1. All inmates of the Hostel are required to produce their University Identity Card / Hostel Identity Card before the security personnel while entering the Hostel. 2. For academic assignments, Late Night Pass will be issued by the Warden to girl students on the basis of the recommendation of the HOD / Research / Project Supervisor. 3. Girl students should sign the register kept at the entrance before 8.00 p.m. Students with late pass should also sign the register while entering the Girls Hostel. 4. Silence hours for study must be observed from 9.00 p.m. till breakfast time. T.V., radio and cassette players are not to be played at this time. 5. No lady student will be allowed to spend a night out without a written request from the Parent or the Local Guardian. 6. Hostel residents are required to observe the regulations and the supplementary rules that may be put up from time to time on the notice board, as well as the directives given by the warden. 7. Visitors may be received at the Ladies Hostel between 4 p.m. and 7.15 p.m. on weekdays and from 9.30 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. on Sundays and Public Holidays. Visitors are expected to wait in the visitors room and are not permitted to enter the rooms and the hall. 8. Incoming telephone calls are permitted only from 8.30 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. Not more than three minutes should be used for an incoming call. 9. A high standard of personal hygiene and cleanliness should be maintained by the inmates. Misuse of bathrooms and lavatories is a social offence and should be strictly avoided. 10. Use of electrical appliances like Hot Plate, Immersion Heater, etc. is strictly

prohibited. Cooking inside the rooms is also prohibited. Students violating this clause will be liable for payment of fine up to Rs 1000/-. 11. All the facilities existing in the hostel should be utilized in a proper way. The residents should take care of the University property, especially water coolers/ purifiers, geysers, on-off switches, etc. If it is observed that the residents are misusing the said facility, a general fine shall have to be paid by each resident as determined by the Warden, based on the damage caused to the hostel property. 12. Before occupying the room the resident should inspect all the items carefully. If any damage is caused at a later stage, the resident shall be held responsible and necessary charges for the same shall be recovered from him/her. 13. Before vacating the Hostel the student should intimate the warden and obtain NO DUES CERTIFICATE from the Warden. The application in prescribed form for refund of hostel caution deposit should be handed over to the warden along with the room keys at the time of vacating the Hostel Room. 14. Students going home on holidays or temporarily not residing in the hostel for more than 5 days should inform the Warden about the same and hand over the keys of the room to the hostel authorities. 15. Disfiguring of walls by sticking posters, paintings etc. in the hostel is disallowed. Similarly, no tampering with the electrical systems, study desk, ward-robes etc. will be permitted. Fans, tube lights etc. should be switched off when not required. 16. During repair and maintenance of the rooms/hostel the student shall cooperate with the authorities and if required, the student may be asked to shift to a different room subject to availability. 17. Smoking is strictly prohibited within the university campus. Consumption of liquor/drugs and indulging in any other unlawful activity is STRICTLY PROHIBITED in and outside the hostel premises. Students are also not permitted to enter the hostel after consuming alcohol outside the campus. 18. Students are advised not to leave valuables such as gold ornaments, mobile phones, cash, etc. in their rooms. In case of loss/theft, no complaint will be entertained. 19. The Warden will be free to inspect the hostel rooms as and when required, without any prior notice. The Warden also has the right to shift a student to any room without giving any reasons. 20. No students will be allowed to change an allotted room without the consent of the Warden. Students found violating this rule will be liable for disciplinary action. 21. Students should not entertain non-hosteller students or outsiders in their room without prior permission of the Warden. Students violating this clause will be liable for disciplinary action or payment of fine up to Rs 1000/-. 22. Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited. Ragging is a cognizable offence and student indulging in such behavior will be dealt with severely in accordance with the guidelines of the Honble Supreme Court of India and provisions of the Goa Prevention of Ragging Bill 2007. Possible punishments for those found guilty of participation in or abetment of ragging may be noted: a. Cancellation of admission. b. Suspension from attending classes. c. Withholding / withdrawing scholarship/fellowship and other benefits.

d. Debarring from appearing in any test/examination or other process. e. Withholding results. f. Debarring from representing the institution in any international meet, tournament, youth festival etc. g. Expulsion from the hostel. h. Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution. i. Fine up to Rs 25,000/j. Rigorous imprisonment. 23. Any hostel inmate found guilty of misconduct or continual breach of the above rules or of gross indiscipline or who is found to be a bad influence on the other resident students, is liable to be expelled forthwith. The decision of the authorities in this regard shall be final and binding on the student, and her/his parent/local guardian will not be permitted to question the authorities on any ground whatsoever.

Rules & Regulations for valid stay in Hostel 1. All movements from and to the hostels should be recorded in the movement register kept with the security guard at the entrance of the hostel and should be signed with no excuse. 2. No hosteller is permitted to stay out of the hostel beyond 7:30 pm in summers and 6:30pm in winter in the case of Men's Hostel and 7: pm in summer and 6 pm in winter in case of womens hostel on college working days and during weekends and holidays. 3. The hostellers are generally discouraged from going out of the hostels during weekends and holidays. However, in extraordinary circumstances, if they want to leave the hostel, written permission has to be obtained from the Chief Warden. Whenever they leave the hostel for vacations they have to inform the Chief Warden in writing about their travel plan. The girl students, however, are required to obtain permission from the chief Warden after obtaining a request/intimation by fax from the parent in this context. The fax format provided herein below shall be the only one acceptable. If they leave during working days approval from all subject teachers and or Director shall be mandatory. They are also required to return on the specified dates and submit the slips, (slip is a part of the Performa) signed by their parents as an indication that they stayed with their Parents / Guardian during the weekends holidays/ vacations. In addition they have to make an entry of their "check out" and "check in" in the movement register kept with the security guard of the hostel and guard at the main gate. The students should be asked not to use the official fax for their personal use at any cause. Overnight stay leave is restricted to two per semester. 4. The students either from men or women hostel can be given relaxation in timings with special permission from chief warden in special circumstances up to 9:30 pm on any day of the week. 5. Parents should not encourage students to go to picnics/tours outside Dehradun City under normal circumstances. 6. No hotelier would be allowed to lock the room from outside with his roommate or any other student inside the room to help such roommate or other student in any way whatsoever. Violation of this rule shall be taken seriously and defaulter along with such roommate inside the room is liable to be expelled from the hostel in addition to imposition of heavy fine at the discretion of management.

Hostel Time Rules 1. Adhering to time rules hostel: Any student not in position to comply with hostel time rules should intimate the chief warden at least 4 hours in advance about his referred inability by Email and telephonic means referring to the reasons of his/her inability as to comply with hostel time rules. 2 Regarding week end outings (Outing timings-4 hours max.). Students should take permission from the chief warden by submitting a letter giving the details of their outings. The outings shall be entered in a register with the guards. The student should sign in the register on their return. Parents will be informed in case of frequent outings .And subsequent outings would be permitted only after receiving email and/or telephonic request only Attendance: The attendance timing shall be 8 am and 7:30 pm every day. All hostellers have to be present in their respective rooms and keep open the room during the above referred timings for attendance every day. The attendance defaulters would be fined as follows: 1. Warning for the first time:2. Rs 100/- for the second time 3. Rs 150/- for the third time 4. Rs 250/- for the fourth time and 5. On the fifth such occasion the management will decide the course of action

4. Strict silence should be observed between 9.00 pm & 6:00 am. Unconditionally failing which heavy financial penalty shall be imposed on first three occasions and there after management shall decide the course of action. 5..The hostel rooms are subject to inspection by the chief warden / college authorities to make sure that they are kept neat and tidy and no unauthorized items like liquor, drugs, lethal weapons etc., are kept in the room. Possession of any matter prohibited by law and or college authorities shall be punishable. 6. Perfect silence is to be maintained in the hostel premises including rooms, bathrooms, dining halls, corridors, common areas etc., Every student of the hostel should have the civic responsibility that he or she should not be a cause inconvenience, annoyance or disturbance to others with in the vicinity.. 7. The hostellers should not enter into any unnecessary conversation, quarrel or altercation with each other or the hostel staff. If anyone has any complaint against any employee of the hostel, a written complaint against the person is to be lodged with the Warden. Use of abusive, vulgar and unparliamentarily language against the hostel/mess staff is strictly forbidden. Any complaint received from staff/faculty towards students will be taken action seriously. 8. If any hosteller is found indulging in any form of instigation / intimidation / threat to any other hostellers he / she will be asked to vacate the hostel forthwith. In this regard, the decision of the Chief Warden is final and binding on the individual's concerned. 9. Smoking is prohibited in the hostel buildings. Gambling in any form such as playing cards (even without money at stake), consumption of alcohol, use of drugs and narcotics and even possession

of such things are prohibited. Anyone found indulging in the use of such things will not only be asked to vacate the hostel but also be rusticated from the University. 10. Any outsider or Days scholars are not allowed in the hostel. Hostellers should not encourage entry of day scholars. 11. Celebrating birthday parties inside the hostel rooms is strictly prohibited. They can celebrate in the specified space mentioned in the hostel before 9pm after getting a written concern from their respective Wardens. 12. Collection of donation by any student or group of students for any purpose (Religious/ otherwise) is also strictly prohibited. 13. Students are not allowed to play skating rollers and other outdoor games inside the hostel to prevent breakages and accidents. Sliding along the hand rails/rest of stairs and fast running/ climbing down should be totally avoided to prevent accidents.

14. When leaving the rooms for attending classes or for vacation, etc., fans, electrical gadgets, lights etc., should be switched off. Glass windows are to be closed securely. 15. Students absenting themselves from regular classes will have to take the permission of the Warden and communicate the information to the Chief Warden. 16. Hostellers coming to the Hostel after the gate closing hours without prior permission or without valid reason would be fined. Regular late comers will not be allowed to stay in the hostel. 17. NO hosteller would be allowed in the hostel after 9:30 am on all working days except with written permission of warden, which would generally be allowed on medical ground either on producing medical certificate or after the warden himself is satisfied of genuineness of such grounds. 18. Guests are not permitted to stay in the hostel. Students of opposite sex are not permitted to enter the hostel premise. Students of the Institute/hostel/locals are prohibited to meet the hostel girls on any pretext what so ever, without prior permission of the Warden. 19. Clock alarms should be switched off, when not in use. There have been instances when students have set the alarm and gone on long leave, and some of them ringing for hours and spoiling the peace of fellow hostellers. 20. Water should be carefully used and not wasted. 21. Wrong entry, improper / lack of entry in exit register, signing on behalf of another person, tampering with the entries, proxy attendance and misguidance of any nature are punishable. In case of any quarrel between or among roommates it should be reported to the Warden for appropriate action. 22. Absentees / Latecomers (without prior permission from the Warden) will be suitably punished. 23. Students coming late / or absent regularly will be expelled from the Hostel. Such students shall not be readmitted under any circumstances. 24. At the time of starting of the semester, no student should lock any room other than the officially allotted room. If the allotted room is a shared accommodation the student should inform the other student in the room or Warden whenever they are going out of the hostel. Students

leaving the hostel after the semester or discontinuing their stay should never lock their rooms and cupboards. 25. Students are not allowed to keep any power driven two wheeler vehicles in the hostel. 26. The hostellers are not allowed to keep air coolers, musical instruments, cassette record players, and computers, TV, electric irons or any electrical equipment without written permission of the Chief Warden. Unauthorised possession will lead to confiscation of the goods.

27. Use of Computers: Installation of computer systems in the hostel rooms should be done only after getting written permission from the Chief Warden. the usage of computer is for academic purpose only. The University / Hostel authorities will conduct surprise checks periodically and if anyone is found violating the above rule, disciplinary action will be taken against him/her. 28. Use of cell phones: Ordinary cell phone could be used by the student but not inside the class rooms, examination halls, Laboratory, Library, offices and during silence hour in the hostel. Students should visit the hostel office only during visiting hours. Students should read the circulars put up at all blocks and be updated with the functioning of the hostel. Students are instructed to attend the General meetings of the hostel. It is mandatory for Members of the Students council who are hostellers and Mess committee members. Violation of any of these rules would result in punitive action and serious violations would be referred to the "Students Disciplinary Committee". The decision of the committee would however be final.
DISCIPLINE Discipline in the hostel will be under the control of the Warden, Deputy Wardens and Resident Tutors. Ragging in all its forms is banned as it is treated as a cognizable offence. Any resident found guilty of ragging will be dismissed from hostel and college. Further, legal action will be taken against the defaulters. If any ragging incidents occur to first year residents, they are informed to bring the ragging incident into the knowledge of Chief Warden, Warden, Dy wardens and Resident Tutors for further action. Smoking and playing cards are strictly prohibited. Residents are strictly warned of the serious and cognizable offence of being in possession of liquor or drinks or being found under their influence. Such residents will be expelled from hostel. Members are not permitted to convene meetings of any nature in the hostel without the Wardens written permission. Shouting loudly, whistling, playing in verandahs, playing music systems loudly, affixing posters, photographs, wall paper, indecent posters etc., on walls and glass panels, use of objectionable language are strictly prohibited. Members are not allowed to put up notice without the Wardens written permission. Members shall not interfere with the work of the hostel staff and cases of misconduct, if any, should only be brought to the notice of the warden for appropriate action. Residents shall not stay outside after the hostel timing except in emergency (informed

to the hostel authority). Residents shall not remain in the Hostel during class hours and at other times when their presence is expected in the Institution, except with the permission of the Warden. Audio system, computer and other electrical appliances shall be used only with the prior permission of the Warden. Terms and conditions for the use of such appliances will be stipulated from time to time. Audio systems shall not be played beyond 9.00 p.m. Student whose name removed from Institution Rolls shall by that very fact forfeit the hostel membership and must vacate the room. Students who have vacated/expelled from the hostel due to disciplinary action, should obtain permission from warden for accommodation if they want to join hostel once again. Residents should swipe their smart card in the computer attendence system of their block for attendence. If any one is found not staying in hostel without permission, action will be taken against them. All senior men residents shall return to the Hostel premises before 9.30 p.m. All lady residents shall return to their hostel premises before 6.30 pm. First year men residents shall return to their block premises before 6.30 pm, except sandwich students. First year sandwich men residents shall return to hostel before 8.30 pm. If a resident is not available in a room continuously for 48 hours without any information to the roommates, it is the responsibility of the roommate to inform the same to Warden / Dy. Warden / Resident Tutors for further action. Birth day celebration in any form is banned inside the hostel. Residents should not bring cakes inside the hostel. Any matter not covered by the above rules shall be decided by the Warden. The Warden is vested with full powers to expel a student from the hostel if his / her presence is considered detrimental to the discipline of the hostel. 3. MESS Mess charges will be based on dividing system. Residents or their guests shall not enter the kitchen without permission. Residents shall have their food only in the respective messes allotted to them and they must adhere to the prescribed timings of the mess. Fine will be levied against those who waste food. Whenever a resident is away from the hostel on valid reason for a period exceeding seven days, reduction in mess charges will be given only for the number of days minus of two days (n-2), provided an application for reduction is made in the prescribed form well in advance. It is not possible to provide mess reduction when a resident has not applied mess reduction in advance. Thow who leave hostel in case of emergency should inform their absence by themselves or parents through phone to hostel information service so that mess supervisor will apply mess reduction to the sick residents. After the arrival, copy of medical certificate and college leave application form (signed by class tutor) should be submit ted to hostel office. The residents should pay all the dues in time failing which they have to vacate the hostel. Residents should obtain token for Chicken, Mutton, Chilli Gobi, Omlet, Egg and Mushroom fry. Residents should register at mess in advance to obtain the above items. Tokens should be used for the reservation day only. Later the tokens will not be accepted. Those who desires shall pay the mess bill amount in advance for 11 monts or 6 months. Mess Bill has to be paid through Challan of Central Bank of India, Peelamedu (Challan is available at hostel office), or through Demand Draft, which should be drawn only in favour of PSG Tech Hostel. In no case, payment by Cash or Cheque will be accepted. Residents shall also pay their mess charges and establishment charges through SBI ATM using debit card.

An imprest amount of Rs. 10,000/- to Rs. 20,000/- may be paid towards Mess Bills, if desired. (In case of first years, imprest amount can be paid only after getting permanent roll number from College) Those who are interested to use North Indian mess shall obtain tokens for North Indian mess from mess supervisors between 25th to 27th of preceding month. First year residents should obtain application for opening State Bank of India account at hostel info service. Resident need not pay money for opening SBI savings bank account. SBI Pass Book and ATM Debit Card will be given within a month and later payment of Establishment charges, mess charges may be paid through SBI ATM using DEBIT CARD. All the residents should remit an Additional Caution Deposit of Rs. 2000/- (Two Thousand only) along with the above establishment charges. Rooms will not be allotted to those who have not paid the Establishment Charge and additional Caution deposit on or before 20 th May 2010. Also Students should not have any mess dues. The establishments charges, once paid will not be refunded, under any case, though the resident vacate the hostel during semester for any reasons. Since room allotment is done online, Computer will not allot rooms to those who have not paid establish ment charge and mess dues before 20th May 2010. Students shall view their allotted rooms in our college website http:www.studzone.psgtech.edu/ Two days prior to the reopening of the College. SMS gateway has been introduced and parents are informed to send the enclosed letter to hostel stating their cell no. and their ward cell no. so that mess bill from June 2010 will be sent through SMS. Cell No. of the SMS gateway at our hostel is 09942244425 All the students should report to hostel on 13.06.2010 or 14.06.2010., otherwise their rooms will be allotted to other eligible students. For non-payment of mess bill in time, fine will be calculated as mentiones below. Students shall pay the previous month mess bill, e.g. March 2010 mess bill till 25 th April 2010 without fine . From 26th April 2010 to 5th May 2010 a fine of Rs. 10 /day will be calculated and April 2010 bill will be released on 5th May 2010. If a students has not paid March 2010 mess bill till 5th May 2010 a fine of Rs. 300/- will be added in his May 2010 mess bill. If the students do not pay the March 2010 bill even till 25th May 2010, then he / she has to vacate the hostel. Residents should not bring food from outside. MESS TIMINGS Morning Tea time 6.30 am to 7.00 am Break Fast 6.30 am to 8.15 am Lunch 11.30 am to 1.15 pm Dinner 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm Evening Tea time 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm 4. GENERAL All the Residents should return to the hostel on the date reopening of the college. No person other than those admitted as residents of the hostel may stay in the hostel premises. A student shall not occupy a room without allotment. Resident shall neither transfer nor exchange their rooms with other resident. Residents shall not sleep in other's rooms. Anyone falling sick is advised to make use of PSG Hospital facilities and also inform the same to Deputy Warden / Resident Tutors. Residents shall use the credit facility at PSG Hospital by obtaining the credit form from Warden / Deputy Warden / Resident Tutors

before going to the Hospital. Residents resorting to treatment elsewhere without the knowledge of the Warden / Deputy Warden / Resident Tutors, do so at their own risk. The hostel authorities cannot be held responsible for any loss or theft of the belongings of the residents. The residents must make their own arrangements for safe custody of the same. DayScholars are not permitted inside the Hostel. Action will be taken against the residents who encourage and permit the dayscholar to stay in their room. However dayscholars are permitted for valid reasons by produc ing their college Identity card to the security guard during day time and with written permission obtained from Warden / Dy. Warden / Resident Tutors, for night stay. Every student admitted to the hostel will be issued a Hostel Identity Card. Students are advised to keep the Identity Card safe in their possession. The hostel ID must be shown for verification whenever security guard / other officials of the hostel ask the same. In case of loss of Hostel ID card, duplicate ID card will be given by paying Rs. 100/The ID card should be submitted at the time of vacating the hostel failing which Rs. 200/- will be deducted from caution deposit. Residents are expected to be dressed decently. After final examination / viva voce, residents should leave the hostel immediately. Residents who leave for winter / summer vacation should apply mess reduction failing which mess reduction will not be considered. Residents are not allowed to do any kind of business inside the hostel. Residents should keep their room allotment slip safely. Residents should use road over bridge only to go to College and come back to hostel. Residents should register their computers/other electrical appliances when they bring inside the hostel every year. Computers should be used only for academic purpose. If found they are being used for other than academic purpose, their registration will be cancelled. Cases of contagious disease shall immediately be reported to Warden / Dy. Warden / Resident Tutors / hostel information service to take preventive measures. Residents who would like to stay during winter / summer vacation at hostel for placement and othe academic activities should submit vacation stay form (available at hostel office) signed by their HOD. Also resident's parents should send a letter addressed to the warden by post stating that their ward is staying in hostel with their permission.

General Rules: (a) Residents are expected to conduct themselves with dignity and decorum at all times in the Hostels. (b) They should not disturb other residents in any manner. (c) Residents having stereo/two-in-one music system/Computer/Radio-Transitor or any other sound producing equipments are to ensure that other residents are not getting disturbed due to high volume. If any complaint in this regard is obtained, the matter will be dealt seriously and action will be taken accordingly.

(d) They should consider university property i.e. buildings, electrical and sanitary fittings, furniture etc. as their own and should not try to damage them in any way. Residents will have to bear the cost of the repair of the property damaged by them individually or collectively as the case may be. They are particularly warned not to scribble anything on walls and doors in the hostel. In addition to the repair cost the erring residents may have to face a penal action as deems fit the hostel administration. (e) Use of abusive language, tearing of pages from magazines, periodicals and newspapers, playing of cards or any other act of breach of hostel discipline will be treated as violation of hostel rules and will invoke necessary punishment. (f) Gambling, use of alcoholic drinks and drugs, in any form within or near the hostel campus, are strictly prohibited. Those violating thisrule are liable to be expelled from the hostel. (g) The residents should not bring or entertain any outsider to the University hostel, nor bring any guest without the prior permission of the Warden concerned. (h) The residents are not permitted to keep iron rods/weapon/arms of any kind in the hostel. (i) Hostel workers are not to be mistreated. Any complaint of indiscipline or insolence against workers must be reported to the Warden for necessary action. (j) If any resident wants to make a representation to the Chief Warden, he/she should submit that through proper channel. (k) Lights should be switched off and taps should be closed when not required. Tea leaves or any rubbish should not be thrown into the sinks, corridors etc. (l) Desert Cooler/heater/heat convector/electric rod/electric iron can only be used by the hostellers with the prior written permission of the Warden of the concerned hostel on payment of the charges @ Rs.350/- per month per appliance. Any other electrical appliances can be used only after the specific permission of the Warden. (m) Following charges are payable : Desert Cooler : Rs. 350-00 per month Room Heater : Rs. 350-00 per month Heat Convector : Rs. 350-00 per month Electric Rod : Rs. 350-00 per month Desktop computer : Rs. 100-00 per month Laptop : Rs. 50-00 per month Electric Iron : Rs. 50-00 per month Note: In case any student is found using heater/desert cooler/heat convector /iron/rod etc without prior permission, he/she will have to pay Rs. 2100/- for six months plus fine up to Rs. 1000/- as imposed by the Warden. Other disciplinary action may also be taken by the Chief Warden including vacation of the room. And in case of unauthorized use PC/Laptop Rs. 300 will be charged plus fine upto Rs. 1000/-. (n) Residents must not tamper with the electrical and sanitary installations. The cost of repairs/replacement due to any damage done to them will be charged from the boarders besides imposition of fine for violation.

(n) Residents are expected to keep their surroundings neat and clean and make proper use of dustbins. Spitting in hostel compounds and corridors, plucking of flowers, crossing of flower beds and lawns is prohibited and punishable. (o) Residents should lock their rooms whenever they go out. The responsibility for any loss of goods, money, jewellery/Laptop/Desktop etc. or any other item will be that of the occupant of the room. They are advised in their own interest to open accounts in the Bank/Post Office and keep with them as little money as possible. In no case should they keep valuables or jewellery with them. (p) Residents are required to observe the decorum in the common rooms. Games must be played in an orderly manner. Nothing should be removed from the common room. The residents should not mishandle the T.V. or stereo any other property in the common room. (q) No VCR / VCP/VCD/DVD/Laptop/Desktop is permitted in the hostel and no show of movies or any other visual item is permitted during the day or night without the prior permission of the Chief Warden. Those who violate the rule will be fined and also liable to other disciplinary action. (r) Hostel authority is not responsible for lost of any Laptop, Mobile phone/Desktop computer or any other valuable item. (s) The Hostel authorities may expel any resident student at any time if they are not satisfied with his/her conduct or for violation of the rules. (t) The Chief Warden may expel a resident from the hostel on the recommendation of the Warden if any kind of dues to be paid by him/her exceed the limit fixed from time to time. (u) In case of non-payment of dues or violation of any Hostel rules by a resident, the Warden may get his/her room locked or opened for possession without any liability whatsoever. (v) Any student opening a room by breaking the hostel lock or window-pane etc. shall be liable for fine/security forfeit/expulsion form the hostel. In case, a resident misplaces key of his/her room, he/she must report to the hostel office. Hostel Attendant will break open the lock with the permission of the Warden in such cases. (w) All orders which are notified from time to time will be binding on the residents. (x) The admission forms of Ph.D. Research students should be signed by the Chairperson and the Supervisor if allotted. In case of unpaid Research Students, they should produce a certificate/surety from Supervisor/any confirmed teacher of the University for regular payment of hostel dues. (y) Post-doctoral Fellows, Senior Research Fellows and other scholar who have fellowships may be allowed by the Chief Warden to stay on specific recommendations from the supervisor, for a further period of two years subject to availability of accommodation and with the condition that he/she would vacate the room if a regular scholar needs the accommodation. Note: A Research Scholar, who is admitted to the University Hostel, shall Pay all the fees and charges at the same rates as are applicable to other students of the University. (z) Students having practical subject, may stay in hostels upto a day after their practical exams are held, with the recommendation of their Chairperson and permission of Warden. (aa) Foreign students studying in the University and who are not in the final year may be allowed to stay in one of the hostels during vacations by the Chief Warden. Those foreign students who are in final year may be allowed to stay in the hostel on payment of guest charges after being allowed by the Chief Warden. They will be put in the same hostel as in the case of other foreign students.

(ab) The Students suffering from Chronic Diseases such as Asathama, Cardiac Heart ailment, T.B., Epilepsy etc. are required to produce a Medical Certificate issued by the Govt. Doctor alongwith the prescription and treatment of history of the student. 6. Special Rules for Girls Hostels (a) At the time of admission of their ward, parents/guardians must submit to the Warden a list of four relatives/visitors and fill the visitor cards. Only these four visitors will be allowed to see the girl students. The visitors are expected to sign the visitors register and state their relationship. Four visitor cards are to be duly filled in duplicates. Residents will have to produce the visitor card, if they want to meet the visitors in the visitor room. Duplicate visitor cards be retained by the Warden Office. (b) Students are required to meet the visitors whose names have been given in the visitors list in the visitor room with the permission of the Warden. (c) Guests are not permitted to stay in the Hostel. However, under special circumstances, female guests can stay with the prior permission of the Warden. Strict action will be taken against those who violate the rule. If any student does not take permission, a fine of Rs.100/- per day be charged which will not be remitted. Also, the student will be liable to strict disciplinary action. 13 (d) The girl students may leave the hostel only with the permission of the Warden except for the Department for which the time is fixed. (e) Prior permission of the Warden must be obtained by the girl students who wish to visit persons or families living on the university campus or local guardian living in the city. (f) Students have to produce the identity cards every time, while entering / leaving the hostel, which have to be duly checked by the security guards. (g) Visitors and residents are to observe visiting hours strictly. The residents coming late to hostels after entry time (as decided by Chief Warden) will make necessary entry in the register at the main gate and submit their Identity Card to the Security-man on duty, which can be collected from the Warden the next day. Residents coming late will be fined Rs.50/- per late entry, which will not be remitted under any circumstances. If found, coming late for more than three times in a month, strict disciplinary action will be taken against them. (h) No guest will ordinarily be allowed to stay in the hostel. Even in exceptional circumstances male guests in Girls Hostel are not be allowed to stay. The guest room charges in the girls hostel complex, which is only for blood relations of girl students, shall be Rs.50/- per head per night. This amount will be deposited in hostel fund for the maintenance of the guest room. (i) Visitors are allowed to visit the girls hostel complex only during visiting hours, which shall be notified by the Chief Warden from time to time. (j) Students, who are not making entries in the entry register at the hostel gate, will be fined Rs. 100/- per incident, which will not be remitted under any circumstances. Students, found repeating this more than three times in a week, will be liable to strict disciplinary action. (k) Residents have to get their belongings duly checked by the hostel attendant at the entry gate. If not found doing so, resident will be fined with Rs. 50/- per instance. (l) The visitor register shall be kept at the hostel gate. At the time of admission in the girls hostel, the parents/guardian will give the name of visitor to the resident and the same shall be entered in the register by the attendant.

Procedure for Girls Hostel Admission ( New Admission) 1. All students seeking admission in the hostel are required to submit duly filled hostel admission form with all the enclosures 2. The old students can submit their hostel admission forms directly in the hostel office personally duly recommended by the respective heads of departments with all required documents, photographs at the commencement of the new academic session. 3. The new students should submit their form to respective Head of the departments along with their course admission forms and all the required documents and photographs. 4. Hostel Admission forms will be available in the hostel office or can be downloaded from the university website (www.ggu.ac.in). 5. Admission in the hostel will be done strictly in accordance with the hostel admission policy of the university. The list of the applicants (new) found suitable for hostel admission will be declared and will be displayed on the hostel notice board. Selected applicants should appear before the warden (Admission In-charge) for a personal Interview with their parents and local guardians on the given date and time. 6. Only after the recommendation of warden (Admission In-charge) and approval of Administrative warden the applicant can deposit the hostel fees within the given date. If any applicant fails to deposit the fees within the given date her admission will be cancelled. 7. Medical check up of the selected applicants will be done by the University Medical Officer. 8. The room in the hostel will be allotted only after the verification of fees receipt. 9. Hostel admission card will be issued to the applicant at the time of room allotment. Only after showing this card to the Gate Guard the applicant will be allowed to enter into the hostel with luggage. 10. The applicant has to report to the hostel before the last date mentioned in the admission card other wise hostel authorities will have the right to cancel the admission. 11. For any further enquiry related to hostel admission, the warden (Admission In-charge) can be contacted during the office hours. 12. Hostel residents are required to follow the rules and regulations prescribed for them. 13. Failure to observe discipline or violation of any rule may make a student liable to disciplinary action which may result in eviction from the Hostel. 14. The hostel administration reserves the right to refuse admission to any applicant without assigning any reason.

RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR INMATES OF STUDENTS' HOME

It is brought to the notice of the students and their parents that the following rules and regulations are laid down keeping the students welfare, interest and safety in mind. 1. Application for admission to Students' Home should be given in the prescribed form. Once allotted, they have to pay the admission fee, annual room rent along with caution deposit. No extension of time for paying the hostel fees will be given. 2. Room allocation will be done by the Dean (Student Affairs ). Students should occupy the allotted rooms only. Once allotted, no request for change of room will be permitted. 3. Renewal of stay in the hostel for the next academic year is not a guarantee and is based on the students' discipline, behaviour and class attendance. Students staying in hostel are expected to have 100% attendance. However if a student's attendance falls below the academic mandatory requirement of 75%, he /she will become ineligible for hostel accommodation for the remaining period of study. 4. Students should have a high sense of discipline both in the university and in the hostel. They must obey all rules and regulations of the university. 5. Students should be in the hostel premises at 6.30pm everyday ( for I year ). Defaulter will be expelled from the hostel. 6. Everyday between 9.00pm to 10.00pm, the concerned deputy/asst. warden will take attendance. All Students must be present in their allotted room only. They must produce Id Card, as and when demanded by any authorized duty staff. For lady students attendance will be taken between 6.30pm to 7.30 pm. 7. If any hostel student is absent during the roll call ( even though such Student is in some other room in the hostel or at some other place in the Campus ), he/she will be treated as absent. Such absentees will be expelled from the hostel, i f satisfactory explanation is not given 8. Permission to students to leave the campus will be given as follows:

a. Festival Holidays like Deepavali, Pongal etc., if required. b. Two weekend permission in a semester. Procedure for leaving the hostel will be intimated by the concerned deputy /asst. to warden. 9. Normally, pennission for lady students will be given only, if either their parent or their local guardian accompanies them. For this purpose, the parent has to nominate a local guardian. Change of local guardian will not be permitted during the semester. There is a prescribed application form for nominating the local guardian.

10. The use of electrical items such as electrical heater etc., is subject to satisfying Safety regulations. Students have to seek permission in writing from the Dean (Student Affairs). 11. Use of camera cell phone is Strictly prohibited inside the campus.
12. Permission will be given to use Computer/ Lap top in the in the room, for academic

purpose only. If any misuse is observed, the facility will be withdrawn. 13. Students have to bring their own items for bathing etc., SASTRA will not supply such items. SASTRA will not provide lock and key for rooms. 14. The mess is being run on dividing system, employing outside contractors. Therefore, the mess dues payable for a particular month must be paid before due date. It is the responsibility of the student to inform his/her parent about the mess dues. Intimation about mess dues will be given through Net only. No individual intimation regarding mess dues will be given to his/ her parent by the office. For making payment, on line facility provided by City Union Bank should be used. Procedure will be intimated to the students after joining the hostel. The mess month will be*reckoned as 26th of a month to 25'h of the next month. ( Mess bill for July 2010 means period from 26.6.10 to 25.7.10).

15. Failure to Pay mess Dues in time will result in fine as per existing rules for on-line payment.

16. Vacating Hostel: All students are expected to vacate the hostel at the end of every

academic year. They have to use the prescribed vacating form. For this Parents'
consent letter is necessary, if a student vacates the hostel in the middle of the Semester.
17. Refund of Caution Deposit: Upon vacating, the student can seek refund of Caution deposit

paid at the time ofhostel admision. For this student has to apply in the prescribed form. The original caution deposit

receipt is to be produced along with the application, form. Thus, it is important to preserve the original caution deposit receipt and mess bill paid receipts.
18. Dress regulations in hostel: For the sake of maintaining the decorum, boys Can wear T-

Shirts, Bermudas and dhotis within the hostel premises only. They are expected to wear proper dress during college hours and after college hours while going to the laboratories, library, telephone booth, university office bank and class
MOMS.

19. Smoking and consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited: If any

student is found

smoking or under the influence of alcohol, he will be summarily expelled from the
hostel and the university. 20. On all matters, which are not explicitly mentioned above, the decision of the Dean (Student Affairs ) will be final and binding on all concerned . 21. The Dean ( Student Affairs ) reserves his right to modify and / or amend any of the rule or rules relating to the Students Home.

6. The hostellers themselves are personally responsible to safeguard their belongings. They are not to keep amounts of cash or valuables like gold, costly wristwatch etc., in their room. 7. They should also take care of their purse, calculators, cell phones, computers and books etching case of theft or loss of any items it should be reported to authorities. The hostellers are advised to keep their room, boxes, suitcases, cupboards, etc., securely locked with good quality locks, but in no case college authorities shall be responsible for any loss under any circumstances 1. Continuation of stay of a student in the hostel is subject to the discretion of the college administration.

21. Do not possess powered vehicles. 22. Do not keep more money in room. Do not posses speakers for music system. Use ear phones. 23. Do not inform your computer password to your friends.

BREACH OF DISCIPLINE IN HOSTELS AND PUNISHMENT:


Boarders must follow the discipline as prescribed in clause No. 9.0. Violations of the same by any boarder will attract the following punishments:

RUSTICATION/EXPULSION
Rustication is the temporary removal of a student from the rolls of the University as a punishment for indiscipline. The minimum period of rustication shall be one semester in addition to the remaining period of the semester during which the order is passed. Expulsion is the permanent removal from the University /Hostel. An expelled student shall not be permitted to get fresh admission to the University.

Acts Punishment i All kinds of shouting, hooting, violent knocking or any other act of movement or behavior that is likely to cause disturbance or annoyance to others. Warning by the Warden at first instance. On repeating the same, a fine of not less than Rs. 250/- to be imposed. ii Switching on lights and fans when boarders are not inside the room. Warning by the Warden.After 3 warnings a fine not less than Rs. 250/- may be imposed. iii Entry of female visitors into the rooms of the boarders in Boys hostel and male visitors into the rooms of Girls hostel. Stern warning by the Warden with an intimation to the DSW and HoD concerned. On repeating the same offence, the boarders may be subjected to rustication from the hostel for one semester by the DSW.
iv Maltreating or physical assault, abusing the hostel employees, canteen staff and others including outsiders, students and other University employees, teachers etc. Stern warning by the DSW with a fine not less than Rs. 250/-. The case may be further processed in the purview of conduct probation /rustication Any meeting not relating to hostel affairs held in hostel premises without prior permission. Stern warning with a fine of not less than Rs. 250/- by the Warden and intimation to the DSW. vi Cooking inside the room. Stern warning with a fine of not less than Rs. 250/- by the Warden.

vii The use of electric heaters, electric stove and other similar electrical appliances in the room. Stern warning and seizure of electrical appliances by the Warden with a fine of not less than Rs. 250/- by the Warden. viii Any form of gambling inside or outside the hostel premises and campus. Stem warning with conduct probation for one semester, rustication from the hostel by DSW. ix Playing of audio and visual systems inside the room or in the hostel premises causing annoyance to other boarders and neighbors near the hostel. Stern warning by the Warden at the first instance and on repeating the same the Warden may impose a fine of not less than Rs. 250/-. At the same time audio visual system will be seized. x Possessing or keeping fire arms, weapons etc. in the Hostel. Conduct probation and rustication from Hostel for at least two semesters by DSW. xi Drinking alcohol, poisons, drugs and intoxicants of any kind inside as well as outside the University Campus. Conduct probation for two semesters and rustication from Hostel and University by DSW. xii Boarders staying outside overnight or absence from hostel without permission from the Warden. Stem Warning with a fine of not less than Rs. 250/- may be imposed by the Warden. The matter must be communicated to the DSW for their record. xiii Damaging, misusing and stealing of any hostel properties or stealing others belonging, Placement on conduct probation for one semester and a fine of an amount equivalent to damaged or stolen items. Rustication from hostel for one semester by DSW. xiv Staying in the Hostels by boarders during a semester break without permission from proper authority. Stern warning by DSW. Fine of Rs. 25/- per day. Entry and hosting of outsiders in the hostel without permission of Warden Rustication from hostel for one Semester and Stern warning with a fine not less than Rs.250/by the Warden/DSW. xvi Ragging in any form inside and outside the hostel.

Expulsion or rustication from Hostel and University for at least two semesters by DSW. xvii Absence of students from the hostel after the stipulated time as fixed by the authority. Rustication from hostel for not less than one month by the DSW. xviii Unauthorised occupation of hostel room and locking by ex-students etc. Warden will verify the matter and report to DSW. Forceful vacation of room immediately by the Warden with security staff, if necessary. xix Keeping guest inside the room or more than stipulated time without the permission of Warden. Stern warning with a fine of not less than Rs. 250/- by the Warden. xx Any form of Public Display of Affection (PDA) inside or outside the University campus. Stern warning by the Warden with an intimation to the DSW and HoD concerned. On repeating the same offence, the boarders may be subjected to rustication for one semester by the DSW. xxi Mismanagement of Hostel mess fund. Rustication from hostel for one Semester and Stern warning with a fine not less than Rs.250/by the Warden/DSW.

24. RIGHTS OF HOSTEL MANAGEMENT 24.1 Any breach of these rules will invite an enquiry that will be conducted by the Hostel Management. If the student is found guilty, then the Hostel Management will take disciplinary action that it deems fit. Depending on the case, the management reserves the right to take direct disciplinary action, amounting to even expulsion at short notice from the hostel. 24.2 These rules have been framed by concerned authorities of ITM University are subject to alteration/modification/review at the exclusive discretion of the Board of Management of the University, either in part or whole, at anytime hereafter. Such amendments, alterations, modification, additions, deletion, if any shall be binding from the date of their notification by the Board of Management.

RIGHTS OF HOSTEL MANAGEMENT

15.1 The Hostel Management reserves the right to revise the Rules and Regulations from time to time and will keep the residents informed of any changes in the form of a memorandum and notices on the Notice Boards. 15.2 Violation of any of the above mentioned code of conduct/rule will invite an enquiry that will be conducted by the Director or Administration Officer. If the student is found guilty, then the Hostel Administration will take disciplinary action that it deems fit.Management reserves the right to take direct disciplinary action, including immediate expulsion from the hostel.

13.1The hostel authority is empowered to have hostels inspected at any time to ensure the proper compliance of all the provisions of the Hostel Policy.

13.2 Any breach of these rules will invite an inquiry that will be conducted by the Hostel Management. If the student is found guilty, then the Hostel Management will take disciplinary action that it deems fit. Depending on the case, the management reserves the right to take direct disciplinary action, amounting to even immediate expulsion from the hostel. 13.3 The Hostel Management reserves the right to change these rules from time to time keeping the students informed through general circulars displayed on the hostel notice boards.

13 RIGHTS OF HALL MANAGEMENT The Hall Management reserves the right to initiate amendment of the rules and regulations stated hereinbefore from time to time as felt necessary. The inmates shall be informed of any amendment becoming effective through circulars displayed on the Hostel notice boards.

GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL If any boarder feels aggrieved on any matter concerning running of the Hall or its Mess, he/she may approach the Hall Management in writing for help, guidance and/or redressal of the grievance. Depending on the nature of the grievance, the Hall Management may refer the case to the Institute Grievance Cell for further action.

COMPLAINTS AND SUGGESTIONS 16.1 Any hostel resident who may have a complaint / suggestion of any kind may record the same in the book provided for the purpose which shall be kept with the caretaker (Matron). The Matron will take up the case with the Hostel In-charge at the earliest who will take proper action in the matter. Such Complaints should be initiated in ISO form (ITM-FRM-20). 16.2 A Suggestion Box will be kept for the inmates of the hostel. The keys of this box will be kept with the Hostel In-charge. The box will be opened fortnightly. The complaints / suggestions will be attended to by the Hostel Committee and the decisions will be put up on the Notice Board. 16.3 In case of complaint is not attended despite providing a reasonable time period, the complaint may be submitted in writing to the Deputy Registrar / Registrar. 16.4 All suggestions for improvement shall be placed before the Hostel Committee and depending on their reasonableness, if approved by the said committee in the interest of all concerned, they shall be implemented.

Complaints and Representations 52. All complaints regarding repairs/maintenance in the Hostels must be entered personally by the students in Complaint Registers maintained in all the Hostels. These complaints are attended to expeditiously by MSFM staff. All complaints are also monitored regularly by the Warden/Chief Warden. 53. Similarly Suggestion Book is available in the Food Court Mess and Suggestion Box is available in RKHS Mess. Students/members may enter/drop their suggestion regarding quality, quantity and variety of food in these registers/boxes which are perused by Chief Warden for remedial action. Valued suggestions of residents are given due consideration. 54. For other complaints if any, applications shall be made in writing addressed to the Warden/Chief Warden and handed over to the Hostel Caretaker/ Senior Mess Manager at the Hostel/Food Court Mess office. Complaints will be resolved expeditiously by the Wardens / Mess Managers themselves. Advice and assistance of the Chief Warden will be taken when needed. For investigation of any of the complaints the Warden may call the concerned resident or hostel employees to his/her office.

55. Residents of the hostels are not permitted to convene meetings of any sort in the Hostel premises without the prior permission of the Warden/Chief Warden. Disobedience of this rule will be severely dealt with. 56. Similarly students or dining members are not permitted to convene meetings of any sort in the Food Court Complex without the prior and written permission of their Dean and Director General Services. Violation of this rule will be dealt with severely. 57. There are Suggestion Boxes kept in all the hostels for suggestions if any from the residents. Residents may drop their suggestions and complaints if any, duly signed with their names and roll numbers in these Suggestion Boxes which are opened periodically. Appropriate action will be taken on all suggestions/ complaints and a feedback given to the student(s). No cognizance of anonymous suggestions/ complaints will be taken. 58. The Block Supervisor, Warden and Chief Warden are available round-the-clock on telephone, and may be contacted in case of any emergency. Their telephone numbers are given in this book and are also displayed at various places in all the Hostels.

Out pass / home pass 1. Outings are allowed only once in a month, (on Sunday 6.30 a.m to 6 p.m) with the permission of Principal. Matron/House Keeper will accompany the students where ever they go. 2. Students are not permitted to go outside the campus without prior permission of the Principal 3. Students should write the particulars in the Out Pass Book and obtain permission from the Principal one day prior to going out. On return they should report to the Warden/Matron /House Keeper and sign the out pass book which should be countersigned by warden/Matron /House Keeper. 4. Students are permitted to go home once in a month a) Students who wish to go home should get permission from the Principal atleast one day earlier and should write in the Home Pass Book. b) Students should produce a letter from the parents / local guardian stating the date and time of arrival and departure from home.

1.03. During vacation the hostels shall remain closed. Admission to hostels shall be made every academic year. The students shall vacate the hostels during vacation and they shall remove their personal belongings at the time of vacating the hostel during vacation.

Before vacating the room, student should check the status of furniture in the the room such as table, chair, cot and other electrical installations including the fan(s) and any other fixture that were provided in the room and all have to be handed over in proper condition to the Hostel Management. If any damage in any item is found to have occurred, compensation as assessed by the Hostel Management and shall be recovered from the boarder.

The Hostel Management, if in case of non-availability of rooms, can allot more than one person per room.
Hostel Seat is allotted only for one calendar year. At the expiry of the allotment period, the allotment stands cancelled automatically. In case the room is not handed over after the expiry date or a student is absent for more 10 days or more without prior permission from the Chief Warden, the hostel authority will take possession of the room and the hostel administration will not be responsible for loss or damage of personal belongings, if any.

Payment of Hostel fee for boarding and lodging is obligatory before commencement of the respective academic session as it gives license to the student for his stay in the Hostel after allotment of seat. Hostel fee and mess charges once paid shall NOT be refunded.

The Chief Warden reserves the right to break to open rooms in case of any violation of hostel rules, suspected unlawful activities or on the basis of security risk perceived.
The hostellers themselves are personally responsible to safeguard their belongings. They are not to keep large amounts of cash or valuables like gold ring, costly wristwatch etc., in their rooms. They should also take care of their purse, calculators, cell phones, computers and books. In case of theft or loss of any items it will not normally be possible to carry out any investigation. The hostellers are advised to keep their rooms, boxes, suitcases, cupboards, etc., securely locked with good quality locks. All movements from and to the hostels should be recorded in the movement register kept with the security guard at the entrance of the hostel and should be properly signed. No hosteller is permitted to stay out of the hostel beyond 9:00 pm in the case of Men's Hostel and 7: 00 pm in the case of Ladies' hostel.

The hostellers are not allowed to keep air coolers, musical instruments, cassette record players, computers, TV's, electric irons or any electrical equipment without written permission of the Chief Warden. Unauthorized possession will lead to confiscation of the goods. Use of Computers: Installation of computer systems in the hostel rooms should be done only after getting written permission from the Chief Warden. The usage of computer is for academic purpose only. The Hostel authorities will conduct surprise checks periodically and if anyone is found violating the above rule, disciplinary action will be taken against him/her.

Use of cell phones:- Ordinary cell phone could be used by the student but not inside the class rooms, examination halls, Laboratory and Library.
No Notice shall be put in the hostel by any student. No student or students shall raise or assist others raise any subscription in the hostels on any account without prior permission from the appropriate authorities. Each boarder will be completely responsible for his / her belongings. The college will not be responsible for any loss incurred due to his / her negligence. Boarders are advised not to keep cash and valuables in the rooms particularly when they are absent for a long period. Employment of personal servant / attendant is not allowed to hostelites. Each student must carry his / her identity cards issued by the college, whenever he / she goes outside of the hostel campus and should produce the same on demand. Disruption of electricity supply is beyond the responsibility of college authorities. Boarders may be equipped with emergency light / flash lights / lamp for their own shake. Exhibition of Video films is strictly banned at the hostel premises. Boarders desirous of purchasing second hand bicycle / motorcycle / any two wheeler / vehicle / calculators should ensure about the authenticity of the owner to avoid purchase of stolen and incriminating items. Boarders should not take food, soft drinks, snacks from unhygienic shops and road side vendors to avoid infection to themselves and spreading amongst fellow boarders. The boarders must be very particular about payment of hostel dues. The boarders are advised to clear their hostel dues in time for any inconvenience.

Students can bring their suggestions regarding food service to the concerned authority via their representatives. d) Any hostelite wishing to use his/her own vehicle must get the written consent of his/her parents/local guardian and must also submit an application to the Principal, along with photocopies of RC book, insurance and driving license, seeking permission to park his/her vehicle in the compound of the Institute. The vehicle so parked will be at the risk of the student and the Institute will not be held responsible for any loss or damage howsoever caused to the vehicle.
1. Fireworks are not permitted in the campus or the hostel. 2. Holi colors are not permitted inside any building. Holi will be celebrated only in open spaces nominated by the authorities. 3. Rough handling of dining hall furniture, room furniture or any furniture/property or fittings of the hostel is strictly forbidden. If any individual or group is identified to have caused the damage, double the cost of

the damaged property will be recovered from him/group. Repetition of damage to the hostel property will result in expulsion from the hostel. 4. It is mandatory for students residing in the Hostel to join the mess attached to the hostel. Hostellers are required to dine in the dinning hall. No hosteller is permitted to take food to outside or the room except for those reported sick with prior permission of hostel warden. Indoor cooking including making of tea/coffee in the rooms is strictly prohibited. The hostellers shall not waste food, electricity & water. Wastage of food is a national loss.

The institute timings are 8.30 am to 12.30pm for FN and 2.00pm to 5.00 pm for AN. Students are not allowed to stay in the hostel during the class hours unless the stay is unavoidable due to illness or any other valid reason. In such cases they should take the permission and communicate the information to the Warden in writing. No student shall leave the hostel without prior permission of the hostel warden.
