Department of Management Sciences offers programs which explore in-depth relationships between academic teaching and real life management problems. Business Project (6 SCH): It is mandatory for every student to complete a Summer Project following the 6th semester or after the completion of 90 credit hours of course work. Duration: This is a four year degree program comprising of 8 semesters with a minimum of 130 semester credit hours (SCH). There is a Fall and a Spring semester in each year. The summer sessions are utilized for Business Projects or deficiency courses. The maximum duration to complete the degree is 7 years.

Stream-I a) Undergraduate/Deficiency Courses The student admitted in this program will have to complete 60 SCH undergraduate courses and 6 SCH business project / internship to complete the deficiency. b) Graduate Courses After completing the deficiency courses and project with a minimum of 2.00 CGPA on the scale of 4.00, they will be required to take 30 SCH graduate course work. Stream-II The student admitted in MBA program under Stream II will complete 30 SCH of graduate course work.

MS Management Sciences
The MS program is essentially a research based degree program intended to investigate into and find solutions to the problems besetting our national economy. The MS Management program offered by Mohammad Ali Jinnah University has attracted students from different parts of the country. It is an ideal program for anyone wishing to undertake research into management and its related disciplines. The program provides substantial training in a range of research techniques and methods used in the social sciences, and an understanding of their theoretical and philosophical underpinnings. The research-based dissertation enables our students to apply research skills and develop an in-depth knowledge in a specialized area. PhD Management Sciences


The PhD program is a research based degree. Our doctoral students are required to conduct high quality research in all related areas. The faculty devotes considerable resources to develop and offer courses on state-of-the-art research techniques, provides generous support to foster a research oriented atmosphere in which doctoral students can develop and thrive as management scientists/executives. As a result, PhDs from the Department of Management Sciences, are working in business schools and leading universities within Pakistan and abroad. Admission Requirements At least 18 years of education in any discipline, e.g. MS/M.Phil,MBA a) Minimum CGPA3.00/4.00 b) Entrance Examination as per HEC requirements c) GRE (Subject) / University Test d) Interview Degree Requirements (a) Course Work

The students admitted in PhD program will have to complete 18 SCH course work with a minimum of 3.00 GPA. (b) Thesis/Dissertation After completing the course work scholars will register for thesis (9 SCH each semester) consecutively to complete 30 SCH for thesis.
(c) Research Following are details of research requirements for PhD degree.

i)

Duration: This is normally a 2 years program comprising of 4 semesters with a minimum of 30 semester credit hours (SCH). There will be a Fall and a Spring semester in each year. The maximum duration to complete MS in Management Sciences is 4 years.

After the completion of course work, a PhD scholar is required to qualif y the comprehensive examination within a maximum of two attempts to get the PhD candidacy status. The comprehensive examination, which will be held twice a year, must be cleared before enrolment in thesis. This examination will consist of two papers; Paper I (Core Subjects), Paper II (Specialization) and will be based on materials from subjects offered in MS and PhD programs at MAJU. On qualifying the PhD Comprehensive

examination, a Research Synopsis shall be submitted by the PhD candidate at least two semesters prior to the dissertation submission. iii) PhD dissertation must be approved by at least two foreign experts from academically

advanced countries. All scholars must publish a scholarly paper in an ISI indexed impact factor journal before Local defense. An open final defense for the PhD dissertation will be carried out on completion of above stated requirements.
