PLAINS ART MUSEUM www.plainsart.org • Plains Art Museum is proud to present the first major showing of acclaimed surrealist and Fargo-Moorhead native T. L. Solien’s new body of work, inspired by both literary sources and historical epochs. Solien has created a powerful body of work inspired by Herman Melville’s 1851 novel, Moby-Dick and Sena Jeter Naslund’s 1999 bestseller, Ahab’s Wife. While numerous American artists have interpreted Melville’s novel, Solien is the first and only to also embrace its contemporary sequel in Ahab’s Wife. By imagining Ahab’s widow leaving the East Coast for a North Dakota homestead, Solien simultaneously explores the ambitions and incentives that drive his own artistic creativity. Organized by Plains Art Museum and accompanied by a major catalogue, this is the first full exhibition of Solien’s work developed over the past 10 years. • Exhibition Opening Events at Plains Art Museum o T.
