Winding A Path To The Sea Take a nostalgic journey along the Glenelg River with this exhibition looking at the river from a historic perspective. Exhibition on display at the Casterton Town Hall (Foyer), 67 Henty Street, Casterton until 9th February 2014. Open weekdays 9am-5pm except Public Holidays. Admission free. International Committee of the Red Cross: Missing Lives photography exhibition Sixteen years on from the wars in Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia, and 12 years after the end of the conflict in Kosovo, thousands of civilians still remain unaccounted for. A Red Cross photography exhibition showing in Colac tells the story of some of the missing. The photos, by award-winning British photographer Nick Danziger, document the plight of families still waiting for news of loved ones who went missing during the wars in the former Yugoslavia. Beside each photograph is a short description of the missing person and their family’s search for answers, compiled by Canadian writer Rory MacLean. Missing Lives, which was first shown in London, United Kingdom in 2010 will be shown at the Portland Library, Bentinck Street, Portland from 16 September until 27th September 2013. Touring Glenelg – Recent Acquisitions Through a collection of vintage postcards, promotional material, souvenirs and ephemera, this display celebrates the towns, townships, landmarks and attractions that make up Glenelg Shire. All items in the display are recent additions to Council’s Cultural Collection. Exhibition on display at History House, Cliff Street, Portland until 29 March 2014. Open daily from 10am to 12noon and 1pm to 4pm (except Good Friday and Christmas Day). Cost on entry. Special Delivery An exhibition of paper ephemera from Council’s Cultural Collection - first day covers, commemorative envelopes, telegrams, letter cards, greeting cards and older style postcards. Tuesday 17th September and Thursday 19th September 2013 Upwelling Festival Art Project – 9KN Bring your old adult sized T-shirts to cutting and finger knitting workshops for the Upwelling Festival's community art project, 9 Knitted Narrabans. Tuesday 17th September and Thursday 19th September from 10am to 2pm at Uniting Church Hall. You will learn to cut your t-shirts into one long strip and then finger knit. If you don't have a t-shirt it doesn't matter, just come for the fun, we have plenty! All welcome. The knitted balls will then be woven into the frame work of large eel traps to be hung on the foreshore poles during the Upwelling Festival on Saturday 2nd November.
