(3) Background KYUEM ISLAMIC WEEK seems to be the fitting setting for the organizing of this storytellingcompetition which requires each participant to relate a true past event of each respectiveIslamic Figure.As an event annually held in KYUEM and nicknamed KIWEE, it serves as a platform to conveythe true meaning of Islam to the college community as a whole, and bring greaterunderstanding of Islamic teachings which in one way of another complement our needs andwants as a human being,And hence, the theme ESSENCE OF HUMANITY is used as this years KIWEEs theme .Indeed as Allah said in the qoran, chapter verseIn this particular event, we are inspired to shed some light into the life styles and characters of prominent Islamic figures who themselves are the companions and are closely-related toProphet Muhammad S.A.W.They were there during the early days of Islam, when Islam was not as widely spread as it istoday and have been put through many trials and hurdles along the way.And being a human, they portrayed admirable characters as a lesson for all.
