Definition and Description of Product Placement As the information age proceeds, media are tangled with and interrupt

into modern life, especially advertisements. At present, an explosion of advertisements is everywhere such as wall paintings, billboards, TV, and Internet; studies show that almost 3,000 advertisements are seen per day and more than $300 billion in the United States is the annual cost in advertising. The reason why companies spend large sums of money in advertising is that advertising can increase the quantity of sales. The majority of people spend their leisure time on various media; however, they have to stand the inevitable advertisements during games and TV shows. This interrupting advertising is called product placement, which means the investing companies promote their products by paying fees to display their goods or services in a film or show. This article will define and describe product placement. There are three main forms of product placement. The first one is movies. Using real life products in a movie not only give a real sense to viewers but also promote companies products. A significant example is The Italian Job. In this movie, Mini Coopers are the main transportation. After this movie played, the car experienced a twenty-two percentage increase in sales. Another system of product placement is advertising during TV programing. TV programing is more similar with peoples real life. People spend almost three hours on TV every day. Furthermore, TV programs product placement is easier than movies. For example, the cooking shows advertising for almost all the staffs their used, like pans and kitchen knives. Few can top American Idol for over-the-top brand displays (Grover R and Lowry T, 2009). During

Internet is a new field of product placement; however it is the most influencing strategy. It is hard for a person to avoid the advertisement when checking the news and information online. The older example is the Subservient Chicken. Visitors can type their orders to a chicken costume which is a live Webcam. The site, a promotion for the chicken sandwich sold at Burger King (Castillo D, 2007). The most effective advertising strategy in internet is the higher ranking in search engines. Almost everyone use Google to search the information they want. The higher ranking companies have increasing availability towards other interested parties. The product placement has its own advantage is that viewers cannot bypass the advertisements; they have to look through the whole advertisement. If this advertising is well, the products function and features will be displayed without the viewers notice. The typical example is the film ET and Reeses pieces. The use of a recognizable candy adds into the story, which causes sales of candy to jump 65 per cent. However, poor use of product placement can broke the story with advertisements. The latest James Bond movie Casino Royale has disappointed residences due to the terrible product placement. Although Casino Royale has less number of product placements used when comparing with other movies; like I, Robert which advertising for JVC CD player, Converse, FedEx and Audi in the first ten minutes. People complained that they are watching a movie not a long advertisement. Most time, products

companies in order to get more benefit there are some improper advertising in the movie, shows, which leading to viewer fatigue with too much advertising and ad-resentment. In conclusion, product placement exist almost every media, this kind of advertising directly lead to the sales of products and benefits. Sometimes the product placement has the underneath meaning which is funny to think over the advertisement. In my opinion, the product placement is a double-edged sword. It can take lots of benefits if the company use product placement wisely. If not, the viewers will feel bored, angry about the advertising; people even turn off TV or Computer. In the future, advertising may shaped by new technologies. The products may link to the screen and use digital system to imitate the product in 3D, which is easier to display the function and features. The new technology may reduce the number of advertisements. All in all, advertising is a main factor to influence peoples life and economic. Definition-Description of Advertising Advertising is a measure to convince audiences into having responses regarding to products or services. The headmost form of advertising is billboards, on which public write the latest commercial information. With increasing of appearance of towns and cities in the European Middle Ages, street callers used to announce commodities for the convenience of customers. With the development of economy and increased education, the current advertisement started to turn up, which was more complex and better to read. Presently, advertising fills everyones life and effect on every aspect of society. No matter where one is going such as subways, supermarkets, streets, and the existence of advertising will always be found. This paper describes and defines advertising. Ads can be divided into several branches, and each has different requirements. Concerning methods of ads, it can be classified into electronic media (radios, TVs, movies and internets) print (books, magazines and newspaper) and talking (salesclerks). Humankind get information can just from radios. Radio just has sound effect so that it should own more things to attract attention, such as music and talking programs. After several decades, companies made use of latest technologies such as TVs and movies. TV is a commonsense combination of sound and pictures. Common people have no need to spend much money, but at the same time can have more options. Compared with TVs, movies have launched considerate amount of money to improve qualities, so whenever ads appear, they can always get audiences attention. Advertising is the one of the fundamental methods of marketing which became a vital connection between the products and our society. The market is very competitive. Companies need to move and win consumers heart in order to make advantageous competition. To create interesting and unique advertisements, there are many different advertising methods with diverse advertising techniques. This paper will be a definition and description of advertising techniques. The most widely used advertising method is print. Newspapers, magazines, brochures, pamphlets, flyers and other printed forms are some examples of print advertising. The uses of print advertising are attracting the attention of clients and using visual effects. A print advertising technique is basic and traditional technique, but it is effective way to appeal to customers. Advertising techniques aiming children need to be unique and skillful. Advertising targeted at children could be easy, because they just seek for something only if it is pleasing to them. However, because they all have different interests and easily tend to change their choices, specialized advertising techniques aimed kids are necessary. These days, children are exposed to internet and some of them are addicted to the internet. Marketers put fun and interesting advertisements to several websites where millions of kids visit every day. With curiosity, children, at least once, will click advertisements. Furthermore, children, for sure, love to watch movies and television. Many marketers hire famous movie stars who are being loved by children, to show how amazing the product is. Definition Description: The Ways of Advertising No matter if one stays home or goes out, it is difficult to find a place without advertisements. How do companies do this? And why do they do this? It is obvious that the cost of the advertising is large. In addition, businesspeople never do something without interest. Therefore, the advertising must help the companies obtain more interest than they spent on it. It can be seen the basic advertising goal is sales promotion. Based on these conditions, advertising uses different ways to attract customers to buy the product or just show the brand of its group. For example, advertising on buses, or just sets a signboard on the sides of the streets, this kind of advertising in public place and other kinds of advertising through medias, like advertising on TV, the internet, or radio. In fact, except these, almost everything people use in the world can be used for advertising. In the paper some ways of advertising will be shown. One of the methods of advertising is public place, so that many can see them. For example, posters on the doors of cinemas can exhibit pictures and information of some films to attract the people to see them. The advertising goal is to use something to attract people to attain more interests such as the posters. The United States is a country which locates in North America in Western hemisphere; citizens are consist of white race and many other races. Its culture is combine by various cultures from other countries, and the compound represents all factors together in life, so people usually call it a ''melting pot''. Due to live in this particular kind of cultural background, American young people as a group have some unique and particular features. There are five traditional values in American culture: equality, freedom, typically personality, hard work, and diversity. These are upheld by most US young people and they represent this spirit in their lives, all behaviors and acts all around these five features. In other countries from different culture backgrounds, teenagers and adults believe other kinds of values; for instance, in China; traditional qualities should be harmony, unity, diligent, civilized and obedient. There are many languages spoken in US, and the two dominant languages are America English and Spanish. Through these kinds of hybrid lives, it seems like that America young people formed a large community that is different from others, as the unique exist. United States is a country includes many countries' culture, peoples' life style, habitat and thinking type. Although there are some other countries which also have a large number of immigration and international students, but America mix this differences in a sensible way particularly. This will talk about young people in United Stated, especially the teenagers who are still at school. In class discussion is like a battlefield, it is common that each student can put forward their own ideas and opinions, arguments happens every seconds, some times are between students and teachers, some are among students. Therefore, American students are conditioned to express their point of view over people, more people, more eloquent. They are good at expressing their views, or even talking something wrong, so the classroom atmosphere is always lively. This heuristic teaching methods make them to think independent and is enable to train the proactive thinking. Due to the national conditions, freedom is a main leitmotif in America, youth are encouraged to create their own thoughts and get the ability of thinking of themselves. This is a country that inspires people to show themselves, people are willing to enjoy different personality and characters. Nothing should be shame, just be perform the real person who they are. . The freedom can be found in each place in their life, dressing, communication style, participation in policy, etc. They can kiss in the street, the write songs to speak out the words in their heart. They don't think they should be shy or shame about their behaviors, they enjoy showing. They can talk, think and act in their own ways and nobody can say that is wrong, so they can get more space to develop their interests. They really have had a colorful life that should be belong to a young people. Further more, now America's schools set up the target of training their students as

Schools are willing to provide opportunities for students to get into civic participation, help them produce responsibility. These services will help them get ready for American democratic life. In addition, high school students have right to vote for present who they support and even do the advertisement. One boy made a video which record the whole process about how he voted for Obama, he made website to appeal, collected classmates' opinions and appeal all the person he know to vote for Obama. Each kid has a dream and they are really desire try to complete it, they sing, dance, swim, design model, take pictures, they did what they want to do even they cannot get support from their parents. The US students are used to use computer to work but not paper work, but they have strong practical ability. They use the Internet and computer a lot, do homework, and hand in assignment and other works. Actually in most eastern countries, students prefer paper works and hard copies. America students have good computer operation skills, they also like to associate on the Internet, they are mad about facebook and twitter. So most of them have a big circle of friends, they know a lot of news that happened in different groups. And they are really interest in sports and exercises, on the campus; it is easy to see someone is running around the campus and at the gym, there are always very busy. Therefore, most of their bodies look healthy and strong, and they really do not wear too much in a cold weather. Their amateur time are very rich, they are active to join in some organizations and get a part-time job. In summary, young people in America is a special group, they have a particular style to live. They are free, brave and outgoing. They are willing to show others everything about themselves what they proud of, and have a free feeling with everything. They got the education to be a valuable member of their country and participate in the society when they are still in schools.

Culture background affects their personalities, and they are showing the world an energetic group. For me, teenagers in United State are really different from all the people I know before, I fell I entered a new world when I started my university life. In most times, their thoughts and behavior were strange and crazy, and for me or for most Chinese, they looked bold and unscrupulous. But after I gradually comprehend them, I find that they are.
