Who is eligible?

NATIONAL DIPLOMA ICT

Applicants can be of any ethnic background.


Priority is given to young people who are NEET (not in employment, education or training). Priority is given to University Graduates A priority group is asylum seekers and refugees We would like to involve as many women as possible. This project invites as a priority applicants aged between 18 and 30 years of age at the time of applying but not exclusively! Older applicats are welcome.

Auditions:
It is compulsory for Coleg Gwent students to undergo literacy and numeracy assessments prior to embarking on their courses. That will tell us about the learners profile and enable us to define the course contents. There will also be some exercises in relation to Team Building as we need the learners to gel and to be able to assist and look after each other once in Sierra Leone.

The enrolment and start date of the course is September 29th 2013.

Global Opportunity Wales and Sierra Leone

There are NO requirements in relation to where you may be based (Newport or Cardiff). There are also no restrictions as to nationality. The course will be full time and involve an average of 15 hours of teaching per week. Since asylum seekers would not be able to travel, they would not participate in the component of the project delivered in Sierra Leone. However, asylum seekers could register and obtain this qualification.

What is the aim of the program?

ANNOUNCING SIERRA LEONE-GWENT TRAINING INITIATIVE


25 DIPLOMA SPACES: LEVEL 3 NATIONAL DIPLOMA ICT AND ACCREDITED SOCIAL ENTERPRISE. WHERE: Study in Newport and Sierra Leone DEADLINE: 25 September 2013 WHO CAN APPLY: 18-30 NEETS (not in employment/education) Women, BMEs, Graduates and Refugees and Asylum Seekers.

The program is tailored at providing young people with the opportunity to undertake accredited training in Computer maintenance, Social Enterprise and a Train a Trainer course, whilst undertaking a series of workshops focused on Confidence building, empowerment and Cultural adaptation. The program is aimed at equipping participants with the knowledge, understanding, skills and qualifications that will enable them to partake in a 14 day exchange trip to Sierra Leone. There they will be tasked with leading workshops in Computer Maintenance to a group of disadvantaged young people. The project will be delivered to a group of young Sierra Leoneans from various disadvantaged/marginalized groups.
