3. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

“Big Bro International” is the high class maker of Manicure, Pedicure


and Surgical equipments. Having it’s outlets in USA, England &
trying to develop in Canada. Their mission is to provide the
customers best quality at reasonable price within lesser time. Big Bro
International is competing with Frigz Surgical and Q & A Surgical
especially. The target market is hospitals, beauty parlors &
technicians.

Product type is to provide convenience to the workers in their


work. Nature of business is partnership. This is so because Islam
favors the partnership system because if there is profit than every
member have the profit and vice verse. Marketing Research System
and Marketing Information System are specially focused at to
compete with major competitors.

In there marketing environment, major participants are


suppliers, customers and then competitors. They have tried there
best for supply chain management and to have good relations with
the suppliers and well as with customers. In our macro environment,
a lot of factors like demographic, social, cultural, legal and political
factors are involved.
Big Bro has adopted the strategies of cost leadership,
differentiation and focusing at quicker delivery. They are doing micro
marketing, serving as niches.

As far as the four P’s of marketing mix are concerned, there


product specialization is surgical and beauty equipments. There
positioning strategy is quick delivery and best quality. Moreover, they
are also doing user, brand and competitor positioning. They are
focusing on becoming a customer-intimated firm. They have the
outlets in America with there elder brother & for pricing, they are
charging skimming prices.
In product life cycle they are at introduction stage and adopting
the strategy of competitor’s product life cycle. Cost reduction & new
product lines are there strategies for there product. Manicure,
Pedicure, Beauty, Surgical and Dental equipments are included in
our product line.

As they are doing niche marketing, so they cannot go for


globalization for the time being but in future, they will definitely try if
there is a positive response from customers for there product.

Their product is purely an intangible product. Staff is employed at


strict criteria & trained well to ensure the best service. Management
has tried it’s best to ensure the quality product, to maintain the quick
service and strict monitoring system and to satisfy the customers as
well as the employees.

The management of Big Bro International has tried it’s best to


modify it according to the requirements of the customers. The experts
of finance and marketing are hired. Proper advertising and sales
campaign is also included in there efforts of promotion.

4. BACKGROUND OF THE HOST
ORGANIZATION

Big Bro is today the leading manufacturers and exporters company, and
are successfully running there Third Generation family business with an
exporting history of almost Thirty Five Years. They are situated in the beautiful
city of Sialkot in the north of Pakistan.

In both production units, there are almost 1000 skilled workers and
qualified management personnel. Who have the total ability and the knowledge
of the machinery used for the production. Production of this particular field is very
difficult and hard work is required to make it.

A: QUALITY STANDARDS:

They are involved in the manufacturing of all kinds of Beauty Care


(pedicure and manicure), Scissors, Surgical and Dental Instruments. They are
exporting to there prestigious customers all over the world since many years.
They manufacture the products in highly Quality Control Environment and use
CNS machines under supervision of highly qualified professionals. We also have
fully equipped Quality Research Labs to control the quality of all the equipments
prepared in the organization. To lesson the burden or the pressure of the work
company also use the strategy of outsourcing. This not only reduces the time of
production but also it maintains the quality of the products.

B: STAINLESS STEEL:

They are using top quality medical grade stainless steel to produce there
high quality products. As we all know that the quality of the material available in
Pakistan is not very high. So, most of the companies use send there own
material mostly from Japan and they are made here in their company.

C: QUALITY ACIEVEMENT:

For global customer satisfaction, they have been accredited for cGMP,
ISO-9001, EN46002 and Etching CE-Mark on there products. They also after
making any equipment get the quality certificate from the surgical institute made
by the Government of Pakistan that is Pakistan Surgical Association. This is to
maintain the total quality management of surgical products. Company is also
the member the Pakistan Surgical Association. That’s why company have to get
the certificate of quality from the association.
D: CUSTOMERS SERVICES:

Organization is eager to serve their esteemed and prestigious


organization on the basis of our best quality products, very reasonable prices,
just in time deliver and excellent services, which are also the hallmark of the
organization. Company is also trying its level best to cover the customers of the
Canada. Now a day they are having the conference with Pakistani settler in
Canada. They use to have meeting twice a week. He will going to make the office
in Canada for the organization and after one year when it will be established he
will hand it over to the owners.

Big Bro International aims to provide all its customers outstanding quality
and quantity with genuine and friendliness and professional warmth, surpassed

Big Bro extends to all our brands and with over 100 of customers the
largest brand and quality loyalty programmer in the industry. More than half of the
revenues come from customers who use more than one of there brands. There
brand is also very famous internationally. They also use to work in the brand of
the other companies but most of the companies prefer to use company’s brand
and logo.

Big Bro International Group has a significant network of upper upscale and
upscale of customers under the brands, with assets in key city Lahore attracting
the international business traveler from all over the world. They are also planning
to expand it to the major cities of Pakistan.

WORK OBJECTIVES:

The objectives of the work are:

 Acquire Human Resource Management knowledge


 Finish the work as soon as possible
 Develop complete selection process for Asst. Manager.
 Get there work in the form of team.
 Work accordingly and within given time
 Work with obedience and loyalty.

METHODOLOGY:
Big Bro International has different and unique method of work. Whenever
they get any consignment from the customers, they immediately tell there makers
about the production of particular item. They have adopted the policy of
outsourcing. Which I think is the best way of doing business of high quality and
can prepare a bulk consignment in less time. Than those products are collected
in the organization and polished in production department. After that it is given to
the packing department. In the end export department give them the numbers
and order. Than they do the paper work and hand it over to the courier company
TAQ Cargo or Dry port. There major export is in United States of America.

B: SWOT ANALYSIS:

THREATS:

Big Bro International has to face a number of competitors especially


locally and as well as internationally, as they are specializing in the surgical. The
competitors have goodwill, sound groups at their back and a huge finance.
Moreover they have created their demand in the local market; the requirement of
the people has been developed. In these circumstances, it’s really difficult for the
organization to survive in this field.

OPPORTUNITIES:

Opportunities for the business are lesser. Big Bro International has to
focus at quality of the products and especially at it’s marketing efforts to survive
for the time being the company can take the advantage from the supply as all the
suppliers are local, so the cost of input will be lesser. The target markets can be
located and reached with cost effective media.

STRENGTH AND WEAKNESSES:

The company has efficient and energetic workforce with the determination
to meet the challenges, which can be considered as strength. There are some of
the weaknesses also that I don’t know exactly that the employs are not satisfied
with their pays. I think that must be increased and bonus system must be
introduces.

Strategic formulation:

Big Bro International has developed a three steps formulation:

1-Overall cost leadership:

The first target of Big Bro International would be cost minimization. This is
the key formula of success in the business.

2-Differntiation:

Big Bro International should try to differentiate its products from the competitors.

3-Focus:
Big Bro International should try to focus at a single segment. A narrow
market is easy to win as compared to a broader market. That’s the reason we’ve
focused a specific class of the society especially as a target market.

C: MARKETING STRATEGY:

In this we discuss four P’s, i.e. Product, Price, Placement, Promotion.

Product means there main product, which they are launching in the market to
the customers that is beauty equipment. They are introducing different products
in the surgical like surgical, dental, beauty, etc. Besides they are providing local
quite soon.

Introductory Price is penetration in the market because they are positioning


ourselves as a quality product manufacturer hence if they use marketing
penetration it might not be compatible with their positioning which will create
doubt in the minds of the customers resulting in the failure of there company. As
a result of this conclusion they are using marketing penetration.

Basically our product will be Place at the outlets, which will be directly under
our control to ensure the customers relationship management & also that we are
providing quality products. We are making the product and directly placing it in
the outlet for our customers, eliminating any third party who may be involved
between our product and consumers that might create an image that our product
lacks purity.

As far as Promotion is concerned they will definitely advertise there company


and its product in those areas where there target customers reside. they will
advertise there products inside Sialkot, Canada is there new target where their
customers are increasing day by day

They have contacts with the market operators of those specific areas and
advertise through them, also they will use billboards in these areas, and they will
also use the radio & television for advertising etc. in foreign countries.

As far as value discipline is concerned, they have a focus on becoming a


customer-intimated firm. They are giving high value preposition to there

RECRUITMENT & SELECTION:

Forecasting:

Big Bro International uses a different and unique strategy to select the
people of some specific and their own stander. First of all they forecast the
required candidate for the specific job and than they pass them n the other
stages.

Recruitment:

After that the candidate is recruited for that specific job. It is ensured that
man whether know how to perform that work or not. It is time taking process but
in the long run it very helping and ultimately leads to the success of the
organization.
Selection:

After performing recruitment than they take candidate’s interview and


check his or her abilities of general knowledge. For production it is not required
but for administration it is highly required and strictly taken.

Outsourcing:

One of the most important and useful competitive strategy of Big Bro
International is that they have adopted the policy of outsourcing. It increases the
production quality and on time delivery of the order in less time.

Here is the business process analysis keeping in view the different


circumstances like some of them are demographic economic environment,
technological natural environment, political legal environment and social cultural
environment. There are many external factors in the business process analysis
market intermediaries, public, competitors and suppliers.

Beside all these points there are others. But I think these are these are the
most important and also required in the outline of the internship. I have tried to in
these basic points other points also which are also satisfy.

A: DUTIES:
There are many duties which I was asked to perform among which I have
discussed in below:

First of all when I entered first day in the organization I was said that go to
the all the workers of the organization and try to create yourself a relationship
with all of the workers. I was introduced myself to all the members of the
organization. When I told them that I am here for the learning purpose they all
regarded me as the student and asked me about my institution. They all
appreciated me.

First duty was given to perform is that I have to write a letter and take out
a print of that. I was given computer to keep on searching the new companies
from different part of the. I have mailed almost more than hundred companies
from different part of the world but during my struggle of six weeks only one
organization replied and that asked for the samples. First I was happy but later
on that company after taking the samples vanished.

Another duty that I performed mostly during my internship was that I have
to write letters. The hard copy was given to me by the marketing manager and I
have put write that on the computer. In the early stages I was not given the big
tasks to perform but later on I was given to prepare the shipments. I use to give
numbers to the cartoons that are to be exported. I use to do all this under the
supervision of export manager. Later in the 5th week I was asked to prepare the
EE Statement which was required by the Bank Alfalah.

A WORKER IN EXPORT ROOM

Twice during my internship I also became a Phone Operator. During my


period of internship the lady operator was on leave. I have to receive the calls a
transfer to the destination I have to list of names in front of me and I connect
them. One more thing I mostly use to do is that I have to do the photocopies of
the instruction menu, which is to be dispatched with the consignment.

Sometime I was given the company vehicle and an instrument to take it to


the Pakistan Surgical Association and get the quality certificate from the
association. It takes one hour to issue that certificate. I wander here and there
and get the certificate and get back to the organization. Sometimes it makes me
very angry that in such hot weather I was said to do so. I put behind my ego and
kept on working for the organization. Besides all this indeed it was a great
experience work. This was for the first time ever I did so.

B: ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
There are many tasks of which I am capable of accomplishing but I was
not given the opportunity. Most of there administration people were fear of me
that he was hired by the owners to keep an eye on us and tell the owners about
there every work. Most of them not even talked with me. Assistant export
manager became my friend and he use to give me some tasks to accomplish.

Most important and biggest work I have accomplished in the organization


was that I prepared the EE Statement which is required by the bank on the year
end. That I myself feel that was biggest task I have accomplished. Beside than
that I was use to prepare the shipment detail that what is exported and gave
them order and numbers. I have prepared the list of all the workers in the
production unit. There was too much to accomplish but I have was not
undertaken unto that what I know and I have learned.

C: NEW KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED:

This was my first time ever I have worked in the field. Though it was for
the first time I have acquired a lot of knowledge but still a long way to go. I don’t
think so that that I have learned the knowledge up to that mark to which I was
expecting because they did not gave me enough tasks to perform. Even than I
will say that I learned enough and it will definitely going to help me a lot in the
long run.

I have learned how a chain of command flows in an organization and how


they are to be accomplished. I came to know that how I have to talk with the
superiors and how I have to act. What should be my body language and how I
have to dress up. I came to know that the documents of different field like
accounts and consignment are to be prepared.

Now I have realized and came to know the 5 W’s of anything in the
organization. There was so much to learn but as I have told earlier that I was not
given that much of the tasks what I have learned in my institution. I also came to
know the way to have discussion and relationship with the banks.

Before internship I know all the things about the organization but now after
putting my knowledge into the field and practice I have gained a lot and further by
the willing of Allah Almighty when I have my own business it will go to help me a
lot. I would like to thank Big Bro for rendering their knowledge to me.
D: PROBLEM ENCOUNTERED:

Problems are the part of the every job. I think that until and unless
problems do not take place one cannot learn and understand any work, whether
what are the technicalities of the work. I faced many problems during my
internship but I coup with them with dare and confident. Whenever I faced any
problem I was guided and helped by the co-workers.

Very first day I faced the problem when I was said to introduce myself to
everybody. I use to lack some confident but after doing internship I have
developed it and now I can face every problem and situation. During the work I
don’t know how to prepare the documents and shipments. I was taught and told
by the Assistant Export Manager. He was very helping and whenever I faced any
problem he helped me out.

I did not face any special problem in my work once when I asked the
documents that I want attach with the report, Director became angry with me and
said that ”you are here to learn not to take our official documents”. I was annoyed
but later on I never asked for anything from the organization

E: HOW EXPERIENCE IMPACTS YOUR CAREER:

This internship programs are for the benefit of the student. Besides degree
requirement this internship will help me in different jobs. I can give the reference
of my of six weeks internship. It wills definitely going to benefit me, whatever I
have learned over there. There were many things which I have learned there.
Before that I have only the image of those things in mind but now I have came
know that what those things are in real term.

Now I have gained the confidence which think I was badly lacking. It does
not mean that I don’t have the confidence but by doing the internship I have
gained the lot. Actually one has the abilities and skills but only need is to polish a
person. By working as an intern in Big Bro International one of the biggest and
renowned nationally and internationally I have gained a lot of experience and
definitely it help to develop my career and my future.

In the end I personally would like than Big Bro International that they have
given me the opportunity to work with there organization and a part of it. I also
like to thank Mr. Mahmood A. Bobla for giving the student of 2nd semester the
opportunity to do internship in summer vacation. Above all I thank to Allah
Almighty for bringing this good time on me and my fellows. Shortly speaking I
have gained a lot of experience by working in Big Bro International and it will help
me in developing my career.
