The educational community has a unique opportunity to tap into a vast audience of students who are already invested in. This module will be included in the Standards for the Caribbean Examination Council. After students have learn to assess the various types of information they provide in Facebook profiles. by using this avenue to improve access to education for all students. (b) identify and discuss concepts associated with the internet. The purpose of this module is to make students aware of online privacy issues. However. they will now need to examine the potential risks and consequences of posting personal information on the Internet. This lesson will teach safe use of social networking while exploring features of Facebook. we must ensure that each student knows how to protect themselves online.

Factors that may affect students’ computer skills include their personal access to computers and whether or not they have computers at home. The students will have some computer skills and online knowledge. learning styles. comprised of females and males. some learners may have difficulties. reading levels. The primary performance gaps we may have to address within our course will be: • Fear of what FaceBook/Social Media is. privacy and protection of the children’s data in such an open environment. According to a blog “Social Media Demographics: Who’s Using Which Sites”. It will be required that the learner would have completed prior modules on the Internet and more importantly. from the statistics it is evident that students in Secondary (High) School are not using FaceBook as much as those in College. Since the students will be given step-by-step resource materials and instruction they must be willing to learn independently and dedicate time and effort towards succeeding. They should have strong reading and comprehension skills which are necessary when reading and interpreting the resource materials. They also need to be selfdriven while learning the steps in the software. motivational levels. The resource materials will be text based -pictures will be added to make the materials more visually stimulating. Technical support will be provided to those learners that are having difficulty with the software or the hardware. Variance in computer skills is due to students’ individual experience.Introduction to FaceBook For Secondary Schools Learner Analysis FaceBook Learner Characteristics Our target learner group was determined by looking at the demographics to see who use or who does not use FaceBook and other social media sites. Introduction to Social Networking. previous computing experience. in age from 14 to 16 years old. All of the students will be in the process of completing their “O” Levels in Information Technology. attitudes toward the school. Our target learners are a heterogeneous group with varied attention spans. These statistics are true for Barbados as well and the main reasons attributed to these low numbers are concerns from parents regarding the security. Performance gap analysis The instruction will target Secondary (High) School students who are presumably lacking the knowledge and skills of social media and are also interested in learning more about FaceBook’s privacy settings. Since the learner will actually perform the tasks stated in the resource materials. the school system and learning. The students will be attending Secondary School.

Weeks 7 . Learner Identification: Six (6) students from various secondary schools in Barbados will be chosen to as the audience to evaluate and implement this plan. Most students will find value in learning about FaceBook not only based on how well it will help them to achieve contact with their friends. Having completed their introductory sessions in Computers and the Internet. which means these students will be able to learn about Facebook's relational features quite soon.9 (Introduction to the Internet & WebMail) will be considered.
