• Can you and I can are key phrases in English that make conversation a lot easier.

1. Greeting with Review Questions ~レビュー質問とご挨拶
13:25-32
• How are you? • Do you like ___________?
• What is your name? o Yes, I do. / No, I don’t.
o My name is _______. • What did you do last weekend? or
• What day is it today? What did you do on Saturday?
• When is your birthday? o I _________.
o Go back over months? • Are you _________?
o Thirsty, hungry, cold, hot,
tired, sleepy

2. TPR ~ TPR ウォーム・アップ・ゲーム
13:32-36
• Run, Jump, Spin, Spin Jump, Star Jump, Play Guitar, Play Piano, Swim, Cook

3. Introduce “Can you?” ~ 導入 "Can you ___?"
13:36-40
• With gestures, ask.
a. “~ Sensei can you play baseball?” + gesture
b. “Yes, I can.” + gesture
c. “~ Sensei can you swim?” + gesture
d. “No, I can’t.” + batsu

• Repeat until the kids seem to get it – as a last resort have the HRT translate into Japanese.
• Then, practice with the kids a few times, asking them “can you ____?”
• Go through all the vocabulary on page 26, make sure the students understand.

4. Listening ~ リスニング活動
13:40-44
• Hand out the page 26 worksheet.
• ALT says “I can ______”
o Students point to the various activities.

5. Gesture Game ~ ジェスチャー ゲーム
13:44-48
• Do some gesture from page 26. As kids figure it out, they raise their hands and ask “Can you _____?”
• Depending on time, perhaps have students come up to play.

6. Can you? Go Fish
13:48-14:10
• Give students a card. They ask another student “Can you ______?” If the student has that card, they say
“Yes, I can.” If they don’t they say “No, I can’t” and draw another card from the pile. Once they get 6 of a
certain card they can retire it.

7. Ending Greeting ~ 挨拶終了
