The unconscious mind is not easily accessed, and memories and emotions that are repressed are repressed for good reasons – we may not be able to live with the emotional pain or stress that they would otherwise cause us. Question #7: But why does the back hurt if it is really painful emotions that I need to deal with? I don’t understand… Answer #7: The theory is that the mind (which is ultimately in control of everything in the body) causes the pain by constricting the blood flow to muscles, ligaments, and/or tendons. This reduced blood flow causes a decrease in oxygen to the tissues. The body reacts to the reduced oxygen by signaling the brain with pain. It is a very clever way for the mind to distract itself with the body. As humans, we are very complex and much of how we operate is really not very well understood. But you don’t have to understand electricity to benefit from it. It is not important to understand exactly why the mind works like it

works. We only need to know what to do to reprogram the unconscious and let go of the pain. Question #8: But I don’t want to deal with my emotions, I just want to take a pill and make it all go away. Answer #8: We all want to just take a pill and make lots of things go away, but in most instances, it doesn’t work. Pain from repressed emotions will require you to change some of your thinking before it will go away completely. That’s it. Just some internal work and your pain will disappear, sometimes overnight. No pill can cure you permanently. But you CAN cure yourself permanently. Oh, and you don’t even have to address the emotions directly. In many cases, you will never even become aware of what the emotion is. It is only necessary to understand and accept that your pain is caused by your unconscious mind and not by a physical problem and you are well on your way to curing yourself of it.
