INTRODUCTION E-eyes is a very cost-saving and simple circuit to implement. This circuit detects the unwanted opening of a door, the possibility of fire, presence of smoke and presence of car in car porch. If any potential hazard occurs, then a warning is provided in the form of sound indication. The circuit can be configured to identify the type of hazard and provide corresponding indication. SYSTEM OVERVIEW 1) POWER SUPPLY SECTION It is designed to give 12V and 5V to power various stages. The AC voltage supplied to the transformer is rectified using diodes and it gives 12V, which is sent to the 7805 regulator IC which regulates it to 5V.

2) FIRE AND SMOKE DETECTION SMOKE: It consists of an LM324 IC, LDR resistor, LED, pot. The appropriate VCC and GND are given to LM324 IC and LDR. The LED and IC are enclosed in a box. When smoke is present it enters the box and

blocks the LED light from falling on the LDR, thereby increasing LDR resistance. The pot in the negative terminal is used to keep the LED in the output terminal off under normal conditions. Initially Pot is adjusted to keep LED just off. When smoke is present, LDR resistance increases and voltage across positive terminal goes above the reference voltage which brings the output to high voltage, so LED at the output starts to glow.

FIRE: It consists of an LM324 IC, pot, LED, LM35. The LM35 is used as a temperature sensor. It adjusts the voltage at inverting terminal to 0.4V (40 degree Celsius). At normal temperature, LED doesnt glow. When there is fire, temperature increases and output voltage of LM35 increases. This causes voltage at non-inverting terminal of op-amp to go high, thereby switching its output to high, so that LED glows.

3) CAR/OBJECT DETECTION It consists of a proximity sensor. When it is in contact with metal, output is low. Otherwise it is high. An IR sensor is also provided so as to detect the presence of an object or a moving person. The circuit is configured such that whenever an object or car is detected, the output of the IR sensor or proximity sensor gives a high output. This is achieved using transistors BC547 and pot.

4) DOOR OPEN/CLOSE DETECTION This is implemented using switch SW1, a push button switch that gives output high or low depending on whether it is open or closed.

5) OUTPUT SECTION In the output section, the four separate sections of door, object, fire and smoke detection are given to 4066 analog bilateral switch IC, which is then given to a UM3516 IC. UM3516 is a siren IC which is capable of producing 4 different tones out of which three distinct sounds- ambulance siren, police siren and fire engine siren is used for smoke, object and fire detection respectively. The sound is amplified using a speaker. Door detection is alternatively carried out using an NE555 timer IC working under astable condition. The 555 Timers output is then given to a piezoelectric buzzer which sounds an alarm. Thus it is possible by sound to identify which hazard has occurred and to take measures to prevent any harm. The E-eye is hence a complete surveillance and monitoring system, easy to implement and easily configured on a PCB board.
