Education
Nov, 2009 Completed requirements for a degree in Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Physiology with First Class Honours. Double majored in Physiology and Biochemistry. Degree was obtained from the University of Sydney.

Research and Laboratory Experience

My Honours research project was focussed on the efferent neurons of the avian auditory system, using the chicken and the barn owl as my animal models. During my Honours year I have gained extensive knowledge and experience in: o The Proper handling of small animals (chicks) while humanely euthanizing them with an overdose injection of an anaesthetic o Fixing chicks with the transcardial perfusion method o Dissecting out chick cochleae and brains using surgical instruments o Embedding tissues in gelatin and sectioning them into thin layers on a cryostat o Probing for proteins and other molecules using an immunohistochemical technique that involves primary and secondary antibodies o The proper use of the Confocal and Deconvolution microscopes for fluorescence and transmission light microscopy imaging o Staining cells using avidin-biotin-HRP conjugated secondary antibodies and DAB, as well as counterstaining them using cresyl violet solution During my undergraduate studies I have gained some practical experience and understanding in a large range of molecular biology and biochemical techniques. This includes: o Cell culture o DNA and protein extraction o DNA footprinting o Enzyme-linked immunosorbant assay (ELISA) o Enzyme-linked metabolite assay (ELMA) o Expression cloning of DNA onto plasmids using restriction enzymes o Gel electrophoresis o Glucose tolerance test o High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) o Ion exchange chromatography o Nucleic acid hybridisation o Radioimmunoassay (RIA) o Real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR)

My extensive exposure within a laboratory setting have also allowed me to become familiar with other laboratory essentials, such as: o Being highly organised by keeping records of activity, as well as documenting the results that were obtained from experiments o Properly care for and the usage of pipettes and other expensive instruments o Cleaning and sterilizing laboratory equipments and working space o Maintaining stock solutions at their right concentration and pH o Properly handle hazardous chemicals and their disposal in a safe manner

Work Experience
Feb, 2007 Ive worked part-time as a Pizza Hut delivery driver for about a month. Responsibilities included delivering ordered food on time to customers, as well as handling customer service at the front counter.
