Q1: Point out the difference between Informative and Persuasive speaking. Solution:

Informative Speaking
• Informative Speaking is mostly used for information purpose. The audience is unknown for the object of speaking.

Persuasive Speaking
• Persuasive Speaking is used for convincing purpose. The audience may know or may not know the object or purpose of speaking.

Informative speaking always reveals options. Little commitment required in it.

Persuasive speaking more appeals to feelings. • It asks for strong commitment.

The audience may or may not ask questions. But their questions are for informative purpose. For example students can not challenge the teacher. The speaker considers that audience has less knowledge.

The questions of audience may or may not be critical. So it is the duty of speaker that he must know about the sufficient answers for their questions It is not necessary that the audience is lower in knowledge or higher in knowledge than speaker. Persuasive speaker acts as advocate. It uses supporting material to enlighten satisfy advice. Speaker’s leadership is more important.
