How do you feel about parents caring so much for their children that they blatantly refuse NY state tests? How do you feel about the NYS Assembly bill A07994 to halt implementation of Common Core State Standards in NYS? How do you feel about students being punished for following their parent’s instruction to refuse state tests when Congress says that “parents have the primary responsibility for the education of their children, and the states and localities have the primary responsibility for supporting that parental role”? How do you feel about students being punished by schools for following their parent’s instruction to refuse state tests when the Bible says in Ephesian 6:1 “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right”? How do you feel about the thousands of people that have gathered in Albany, Long Island, and Buffalo to protest state tests? How do you feel about the hostile environment that now exists between school boards and parents across the state due to NYS tests? How do you feel about thousands of parents organizing stronger each day to boycott NYS tests? How do you feel about the dozens of schools that have failed to meet the 95% participation rate in NYS testing due to test refusal? What will happen to testing when enough parents refuse the state tests that there are no longer enough students left to justify the tests? How do you feel about students purposely scoring poorly on state tests to hurt teachers they don’t like? How do you feel about students randomly answering questions on state tests because they know the tests are hurting them and they want to make a statement? How do you feel about our best teachers leaving the profession because they know that our education system is hurting kids? How do you feel about kids not caring about school anymore because school is no longer enjoyable due to excessive testing? How do you feel about state Senate and Assembly legislation that would stop NYSED from collecting private personal data on children? Why are we giving teachers incentives to care more about test scores than about students? Why are we forcing a system of standardized tests when it has clearly failed in Finland, Japan, Korea, Ontario, and even China? Why are we continuously told there is an education crisis in the US when the US has the best test scores in the world after poverty is equated? Why are children that once loved school now coming home crying and hating school because of excessive testing? How can Buffalo City schools test scores be compared to suburban schools when 15% of Buffalo City School students don’t even speak English?
